ys the fabric is glued to the board , I used a thin foam & then used a material over the foam as the original material had a thin foam backing which over time fails & releases the fabric .

If the vendor is Dayclona, I intend on buying one of these soon. I will either put a suede leather, or micro suede material on it. No foam underneath.

Just FYI, gluing the fabric down on the board is challenging because of its concave shape, so the material has to have some stretch to it or you'll have a bunch of wrinkles.  I glued down some "headliner material" I got at a fabric store (JoAnn's) It was gray loose-woven fabric with a 1/8" foam back.  Then we put the black fabric over that.  The black fabric was sort of a velour that had a lot of stretch to it (although it was a little too shiny).  Found the black material online.

I am considering leather.

the fk5 I once owned had a vinyl headliner custom made like the fabric headliner.
I really liked the set up.  Hard to mess up as a driver.
