They are just reporting the same thing Motor Trend did last month and has been proven to be false. There is no Cuda coming.
Hot off the insider press is fresh information regarding the upcoming Barracuda from Chrysler and SRT. Previous rumblings suggested that the new LA platform (modified LC in which the current Challenger resides) is what would underpin the “Challenger replacement” Barracuda for 2015. Apparently the Challenger may live on its own with the LA platform and lose approximately 350 lbs as well as some mid section and length but the Barracuda is a separate car from the new Challenger all together.
The ‘Cuda will have its own RWD platform that will be shared with an undisclosed as yet Alfa Romeo (cough-cough GIULIA) as well as a likely small coupe from Maserati. The latter announcing just a few days ago that they will be bringing two new luxury coupes to market in the near future. A small one that will use the same platform as the Barracuda and a larger one that will use the larger LA RWD platform used under the 2015 Challenger.
In todays automotive landscape, unless you have cars to share these near-billion-dollar-to-develop platforms with, they simply do not get past the concept stage.
Back to the Barracuda, its said to be approximately the same size as a current Genesis coupe, which is dead-accurate with former reports suggesting that the Barracuda would be the same size as the smaller all new 2015 Mustang. Expect turbocharged 4cyl trims as well as a potential GT500 destroying, ZL1 out-handling 600+ horsepower beast from Team SRT.

Still, if I had to choose between a car that looks like one from the 70s that was slow and a door stop shaped rocket. I would pick the old style looks every time.
