Need help choosing proper rim sizes

considering purchasing America Racing Torque Thrust 2.1 Rims, what would you recommend for a 74 Challenger.  Thinking about 15 X 8 with 4.5 backspace or 3.75 backspace for the rear, on the front the 15 X 7 with 3.75 backspace is all that is offered  Thanks Brent

With ebodies, 15X8 with 4.5 inch back space, the back tire can go up to 275R60-15.  That is what I have.  I run 15X7 with a 4 inch back space on the front.  I also run a 215 R65-15.  It is a little taller tire than the 235R60-15 that most people run.  I think it looks better.  It is still a shorter tire than the back tire and it just looks right.

I just went out and looked at my car.  The 3.75 backspace should work fine for your front.

When it comes to rims go thru http://newstalgiawheel.com/  they are the best you call them they will tell you what will fit under your car.Been using them for years.

I think you will be happy with the set up you ordered.  The back tires will be fine.  The 235R60-15 front tire will be fine too.  I see alot of guys do it, and I hear a lot of guys talk about how they wish that they would have used a taller front tire.  If you have not ordered the tire yet. please consider the 215R65-15.  I know it sounds strange but I had a long talk about it with a tire guy before I got mine mounted.  I think it looks better than the 235R60-15.  That is just my option so take it as you will.  Here is a picture of my car with the 275R60-15 in back and 215R65-15 in front.

The second picture, the car is setting high in front because the picture was taken before the engine was installed but it is a good side on shot to let you see the tire size.

I sound like a broken record .... Stay away from BFG tires , they are garbage , I have seen them separate , a brand new set were shaking  the fenders like crazy so we jacked the car up & spun the tires , they had a 1/4" step in the tread where the belts overlapped , not even close to being round , poor wet traction . There are very few choices left unfortunatly but Cooper or Dean Stinger , Kelly may still make tires are all better choices

Great pic's TinCuda Thanks, I'll check into the 215/65/15 front tire size. Thanks also Chryco for the heads up on the tire problems, I'm going to look for some Cooper tires instead of BFG, I think they still make the Cooper Cobra's in 275's and smaller.  Brent
