New member in New Mexico
« on: February 24, 2012 - 10:30:10 AM »
Hi, I am about to close a deal on a '70 AAR 'Cuda and wanted to join this forum.  I am trading in my old faithful '64 Dodge Polara 500 that is most all original and I was the second owner.  Hope to find out much more about 'Cudas and the AAR, as I have never had either before.  Thanks.

I will post some pics of the AAR when it arrives and I get a chance to take some.  It is Sassy Grass Green, has a date code correct TA block, but not original motor, Torque-Flight.  It was totally restored a few years ago with few miles since then, and should need nothing, but well, I've been told that before.  Here are some pics of my old reliable, 68,000 mile all original Polara.

Welcome to the site! Nice 64! Mine was that teal blue and white. You succeeded in keeping yours, though. I'm just envious.  :grinyes:

The Polara is cool but the AAR is even cooler.  Sassy Grass is my favorite color for an AAR, just works so well with the flat black hood, stripes & spoiler.  Already looking forward to pix...

Thanks for the nice welcome, my Polara 500 is the exact twin of the one I had in high school and college, but got repossessed when my step-dad went bankrupt and he had the title in his name, I was too young.  I always swore I would get it back, but when I had enough money, I couldn't find it.  After 20 years of looking for an identical, original, pristine, non-cutup example, I finally found one in a little old lady's garage in Long Beach.  She died at 94, was the original owner, and it was identical to my old one, right down to the B&B 2-barrel carbed 383.  I repainted it, but everything else is as she came from the LA factory. I really have enjoyed it these years, my wife and I met, dated, married, and went on our honeymoon in that car, and could put everything we owned in it too for a few years (big trunk you know), and when I got one like it back, we were able to celebrate our 35th and 40th wedding anniversary in it.

But time to move on, so I have now closed the deal on the AAR, picture attached.  It is quite famous I understand, it won 1st at the Mopar Nationals in 2007 in the AAR/TA class and won senior first place in 2008.
