Newbie from Australia 70 Cuda
« on: February 24, 2012 - 07:37:46 PM »
:aussie:Hi Everyone I just landed a 70 cuda AAR tribute into Australia. it came in from Texas but was originally from South Carolina. Just trying to get it through a roadworthy inspection here. I have had a few problems with the 8.75 rear end but all in all the car is in great shape.

This forum is fantastic. I am a greenhorn with Mopars, the forum is a great way to share knowledge and to keep these classic cars on the road.

G'day newbie Cuda owner. I've been a '70 Challenger owner in Melbourne for the past 2 months. Have just had to replace the original 8 3/4in rear end myself. A tip from my experience, an outfit called Elko in Melbourne were really helpful and had a complete diff centre ready to bolt in for under $1000. You might want to try them before you go anywhere else.
Cheers, CBT

Welcome!  I am a newbie also an have found this site to be great.  Nice car!  Looks great I hope you have good luck with it. A  few years back I sold my 1968 RS/SS Camaro to a guy in Victoria, Australia.  He is a really nice guy, his whole shop was easy to deal with.  I am purchasing a 1970 Cuda with a modified AAR style hood.  I should ahve it by March 8th.  I'll post pics then. G'Day!!

Hey cbt70challenger. Thanks for the tip on Elko's. I checked out their site and they got a good range of parts, not much to chose from with parts in Australia, the few places that carry parts want big $$$ for everything.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

You'll find more often than not, with the strong Aussie dollar it's much cheaper to buy direct from the US - even with ridiculously expensive shipping costs, you'll usually save money over buying locally.

I always try the local joints first, but most times I laugh my arse off once I've hung up the phone. "Tell 'em he's dreamin'!"

The one exception has been Elko. Got a replacement 2 piece boot floor, delivered, for less than the US price.

Nice E-Body mate. Where abouts in Oz are you located?
