New front end installed
« on: January 29, 2005 - 09:44:44 PM »
Burpin finally installed his front end. At least that is a happy ending. Burpin got the poly what ever joints and what a difference it makes. It is super tight. No play in the steering wheel. And you turn it and it turns. Because Burpins car was set up for drag racing, they did something to the front end to make it super loose so it will pop quick and put the weight on the rear end. It also had the shocks that went out quick but slow back in, which is also good for weight transfer. Burpin went back with 50 50 shocks monroe. But the best part is everything was sand basted and painted to look like new. as the pics shall demostrate.

You basted the front end?  The only things I have ever basted were my Thanksgiving Turkeys and an occosional ham.  BTW, good job on the front end.  I have those poly whatever things too.  I like em.

Looks good Burpin,

My next project is converting from drum to disc, also going to replace everthing while it's apart.  All the ads for those poly kits show them being red.  That was scaring me away.

Any advice you learned along the way to make things easier?

Thanks,

Katfish

nice April,     Burpin looks nice, how hard to do , any special tools    I have a k-frame I want to put together while the car is being worked on.  then I can bolt on the new K with motor tranny suspension brake conversion all done.
Why are the only other cars on the road all in my rear view mirror?  Oh yeah cause I got a 440/6 pack

Thank you GOD for the "Go Fast Division"

The thing to remember is to let your mechanic do it. Burpin does some things but really doesnt have much time since Burpin is self employeed. So Burpin bought what Burpin wanted and then drove it down to the local Garage. Which Burpin might add, Burpin has a key too. The owner says I bring more business than South western bell. LOL. Man referrals really pay off.

Nice job Burpin, glad you got that poly suspension in and glad to hear how it handles now!

Hey Hemi Hunter, you're right about doing it now with the K frame out, you can buld it on the bench and have it all done when you get the car back. Did mine that way and it wasn't bad at all. You can also make it so you aren't leaning over to work on everything, if you have my type of back you could really appreciate that part! Got my disc brakes from Jegs, they have the Wilwood setup for 668.00 out the door with free shipping. Got the front end kit from Mancini Racing for 307.00 including shipping. You will have to purchase the idler arm and the pitman arm seperate. Here's mine all complete ready to go back in. There are probably better deals out there but this is where I got my parts. Good Luck!
