starters problems with a kiesler transmission kit
« on: February 29, 2012 - 12:12:16 AM »
i dont know if this is a repost on here or not:

i had started a thread on moparts, about a problem i had with kiesler's costumer service  - http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=7082624&page=0&fpart=1&vc=1

nobody really knew what the problem might be, everyone was saying shim it and/or get another starter and dent the header in, even kiesler didnt know how to fix it. i had to drive 5 hrs to their place of business before they would help.i all ready knew the flywheel was wrong didnt look like any old school mopar flywheel to me. when i got it sorted out shafi said he would contact others that may have received the wrong flywheel like to i did.

im just letting anyone know, that might want to put a kiesler kit behind your 3rd gen hemi restomod  what you might run into:
the problem:

after a very long day of screwing around in Tennessee, i got the problem fixed:

Thanks for posting! Was the starter gear on the flywheel put on in the wrong position?

no it just turn out to be the wrong flywheel, they sent one a lx/trk setup running a tko, instead of one for an old mopar.

i think there is a member one here that had the same problem but he was able to shim his out

Ah I see. Thanks for sharing the info!  :2thumbs:  I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a Keisler auto OD kit so I'm scanning the net for any info good or bad.
Thanks Brad

Good to know , sounds typical to me though Keislers customer service is a myth , they do not have any , once they have your $$ they could care less . It doesn't look like there is a centering hole for the nose of the starter at all .

customer service sucks, i shouldn't have to drive a 10hr round trip to swap out parts.

 its a quick time bellhousing

Thanks Brad

to be honest, i wouldn't recommend kiesler to anyone, not after this and driving to get the parts to fix it, i doubt he'll send that check for half the cost of the flywheel.

if your going with an auto i would get a gear-vendors od unit. i hear that tci is selling an auto od trans for mopar now, its one like kieslers.

Keisler has sent me messages asking me to quit attacking his reputation but as I told him he is his own worst enemy , I have never made anything up or exaggerated anything he has done to me personally . I will never deal with him again or recommend him to anyone .... if he didn't want his reputation damaged he could have looked after me & my customers properly . There are other people doing what he does & doing a better job !
It would be approx a 80 hr drive for us to swap or drop off the transmission that was machined too far  with a hole in the tail housing for us .

:iagree:   he didnt send me any messages on how they could've fix this w/o me driving there.  when we  were talking he did bring up that thread on moparts and asked me about it, but he didnt really have much to say
