'71 'Cuda curious yellow- What's it worth?
« on: March 03, 2012 - 12:07:37 PM »
I'm new here, but have been in love with E-Bodies since Nash Bridges".   I've got a buddy who has a 1971 'Cuda hardtop that's wrecked in the front end..possible slight frame damage, I haven't seen it in person yet.   It is originally a curious yellow 340 3-speed car' but he has a 4-speed pistol grip for it now.  The engine and transmission aren't in the car, but he does have them.  He has all new fender and grill, where it was hit, as well as various other pieces that he has gathered through the years.  It's originally an El Paso car, so the only rust is surface rust on the body....it's in semi-primer condition now, I've been told.
He bought it 10 years ago to restore, but he has several other Mopars and is getting older now and can't restore them all.

He is asking 10,000...which sounds high to me.  What do y'all think it's worth?  Thanks,

---Matt---

Hmm well you know pictures are needed for a better idea on wiw. But if this is a real 71 340 numbers matching cuda then I'll throw out a 8-10k without pics. When you take a look can you take a few pics and fender tag. So we can decode it for you. Sweet color btw.
WANTED 71 cuda / barracuda project. Prefer Black but open.

Yes sounds worth $10k or so unless there is some crazy major structural damage. I would say go take a look and take some pictures and get them posted and we'll give you the

I am awaiting pics at the moment.  I should have some within a week.  Thanks the input guys!  I look forward to joining the community!  Is there anything I should look for on the fender tag or other body panels  that would indicate something special?  If the pictures indicate what he described to me, it's worth 10k?

Make sure the vin is BS23H1BXXXXXX. As far as the fender tag goes a V6X (Biillboard car) would be an added plus. Post pics when you get them but sounds like $8-10k from here.

I was finally able to get some pictures from him, albeit not very revealing ones:

Here's a picture of the damage....seems like it's on the right side door area.

I asked him to get pictures of the vin and fender tag too, but he didn't this time around.  Those are not '71 fenders on it, but I've been told that he has correct '71 fenders.  I'm starting to think that offering him 5-6K seems more like it, but I'm waiting on pictures of the fender tag and vin before making an offer.  The car is an El Paso car, so the only rust is surface rust I'm told.  I'm 5 hours away from El Paso...

Matt,

I will be in El Paso visiting with some friends this Friday (3/9).  I would be happy to look at it for you if you would like.

I appreciate the offer man....I was mistaken in saying it's in El Paso.  It's an original El Paso car, but the car is located in McAllen,TX....which is on the border, but about an hour from S. Padre Island.

If he has the number's matching engine and the car ain't TOO rusty, then maybe $8k.  If hardly ANY rust, then $10k sure.

No grille, nice whack in the rockers...I imagine the fenders he has needs work too if not replacing.

Check the cowl and radiator support for matching VIN and yes, get the dash VIN and fender tag info.
