Your current status on your restoration.....
« on: March 06, 2012 - 07:38:02 PM »
Just wondering how we all are doing in 2012.......I actually completed mine in 2008 but still have the heat and air to get hooked up if I really want to...........so I am at what I call 95%......Of course there will always be  little things to do but this is to show all members your current status and can change as you go.  Anyway just though it would be interesting...........maybe you will too..........

Somewhere between 50 and 95 percent. Around 75-80ish. Enough of the way where you can taste that first drive, yet far enough away to piss you off  8)

I believe I'm about 70 percent done..I plan on being 100 percent done within 6 weeks. It's just going to be a driver so I suppose my 100 percent done would translate to 45-50 percent done to someone who expects them restored nice.

See, Dave, I'm thinking she'll be back on the road next year, but in terms of everything I want to do...that'll probably be a decade.

After getting my car back, I'm getting a better idea what I really need to buy and restore.

I'd say now I'm at 50% because it will be a while to get everything cleaned, sorted, organized, and placed with each parts group preparing to assemble. I'm discovering that once you do a good paint job; parts you thought would be acceptable, suddenly don't cut it to be re-used again.

The hardware is the challenge.
I can't stand generic hardware (nuts & bolts) put on a freshly painted Mopar. Original with the exact parts in their perspective location are what it takes to make it correctly restored.

Gonna get her running 1st hopefully this summer and I'd say 50% , Later work with quarter panel, outside body and paint still left to do. Pretty much done gathering parts minus a few small things. Everything else is either New or Refurbished. Gotta put the windshield glass in have the 3m putty and buff the trim like Cody did.

Gonna be on the road this summer. The interior is nearly done. Need to complete (door inserts) the door panels and install, install carpet and door sills, and recover/install the seats. I'm having the head liner installed. Need new windshield and both front/rear glass installed. Window trim polished before install. Complete brake system setup and then the car is pretty much done.

Then on to the engine which will be a no-balance and blue-paint cleanup/resto. It already ran so no real mods there. Install/detail engine compartment items. Rebuild trans install grille/bumper etc.

That's about it and come to think of it, it's a lot. So maybe closer to 50%.

I haven't even started! I'm still having to much fun driving her to take her off the road.  What's the rush, it's only been 25 years?

Exactly.

I'd say my engine is 50%, suspension is 90%, body I haven't even started, and the interior is maybe 10%. Unfortuantly I haven't even touched it this year and prospects for continuing anytime before 2013 aren't looking good either.

I went with 'Just Started' since the end is no where in sight. Car is completely stripped, Frame Rails fixed/replaced, new inner fenders replaced, new hood, new upper and lower front valances.

Now to re-strip the front off and take it to the media blasters and then coat it in epoxy primer after the media bath. (I hope this step will be this month)

Oh, '74 Cuda, Built to my specs... but never lose sight of the classic style.
