    Is there a difference between a small block K member and a Big block K member

    I was wondering if there was a difference between a small block K member and a big block K member. I have one from a challenger and it has a skid plat under it. what is it worth.

    If it is a origional hemi or 440 6pak it will have the plate. 318 to standard 440 had the same k-frames. Price well it is worth what you can get out of it. Probably alot for someone needing a origional 440 or 6 pak k-frame.

    As far as I know, the Challengers had four different  K-frames: Slant Six, LA, R/B, and Hemi/Six-Pack. I always thought the Non-skidplate K-frames were different,  :clueless: but Shumacher Creative services makes adapter mounts for the various engine swaps...

    Slant six and Hemi K-frames are different.

    All the rest are the same, with the 440-6 having the skidplate.

    i've bolted big blocks in 2 different small block k-frames. a '72 and a '74 challenger


    while we're on the subject,

    my '74 challenger was originally a 318 car. right behind both motor mount perches in the k-frame, there's a bar sticking straight
    up on both perches. anyone know what they are for? unfortunately i don't have any pics.

    I have a'70 'Cuda 440 with a single 4V and my K frame has a skid plate and it's OEM.  Just saying.

    Just to add a little more to the strange things we see--My Los Angeles built 70 Challenger RT which originally had a 383 has a skid plate.  Nothing I've ever read says it should have but it's there.

    That's what is seems. I am not surprised much about what pops up out of the written ordinary. I think mancini sells the skid plate if anyone wants to add it to thier standard K-frame.

    At least the finds were for the betterment of the vehicle and not the other way around. That just shows they put out a better standard than expected.

    I have seen those on the later K frames , they are a pain to work around , I have cut them off a couple of times

    CudaGuys 318 73 barracuda has those pain in the but little extra ears on the K member.  I would also recomend cutting them off
