    AGAIN, I'd bet your engine is running WAY too rich with all that CFM (1350)..I've seen race engines not need that much carb...

    I think I agree. The fuel pump was an easy place to start, but 1350 is a lot of fuel.

    Maybe this is about the needle and seat assembly?  If there is debris in btween the two then the needle won't close off the fuel flow when the floats are high enough and then force fuel into the bowl.

    I know nothing about 6 pack set ups but I heard on some carbs, maybe it's the thermoquad, that the primary metering jet o-rings go bad and drip fuel into the intake?  I think this may have been happening to my car because when I shut off the engine, I can see gas dripping on the outside of the carb from the primary butterfly shafts.  My oil stunk of fuel and was about 1/2 a quart too high.

     :22yikes: Just realised something. My aftermarket moroso pan is a 7 quart so should hold about 7.5 liters (I'm canadian eh!).
    But when I took outthe oil (mixed with fuel) there was  around 14 Liters !!!!! WTH!
    Now I'm not just afraid of cylinder wash but bearing wear as well.

    I dismanteled the fuel pump and couldn't see a break in the diaphragm so if the pump is leaking it can't leak enough to get 7 litres of gas through! It has to be the middle carb right????

    Any ideas??? Please be gentle ;-)

    I would think that if your carb was leaking a lot of fuel you would have had other symptoms along the way such as hard starts from flooding, lots of black smoke at startup, ....Just running rich or having more CFM than is appropriate doesn't put raw gas in the oil pan.  I made an error once on a rebuilt carb and used old seats with new needles that could not seal & got so much fuel in the cylinders that the motor could not turn over, when I changed the oil there was no sign of a lot of gas in the oil. Of course I had caught this quickly.

     :iagree:  I had hard starts after the car ran for a bit and I shut it down.  When I pulled my carb apart I could see debris around where the primary o-rings were and they were really hard, not soft and pliable anymore.

    When's the last time the carbs were rebuilt?  They aren't too complicated, just a pain in the butt since you have x 3 to do if that's the problem.

    Had the carbs rebuilt last summer!
    No black smoke, some backfire, plugs are brownish (not black).
    But I've always had a hard time setting the carbs properly. It would run at high rpm on idle. Then I'd lean out the mixture and it wouldn't start when cold.
    How can that much gasoline get in there  :swear:

    It has to be leaking into the cylinders when the engine is off.    You may have already said, but are you running an electric pump or a mechanical?

    Have you physically looked into the carbs after shutting the engine off? Or try a fuel shut off on the inlet side(temporarily).
    Doing this could answer all of your questions. And if adjusted properly, wouldn't the center carb be the only culprit
    at idle?

    Ok, silly idea time.

    After running the car, loosen all 3 carbs enough to slide a piece of cardboard in between the carb and the intake and let it sit for a day or so. 

    Remove the cardboard and see if there's any fuel stains on it.  If so, then the carb(s) are the culprit.  :2cents:

    I like that cardboard idea. Just not ready for it yet as I've been working on the car this winter and many peices need to go back on before I can start it. But I'll try and let you know.
    But I think it's not that easy to access all the bolts for the 3 carbs on a 6-pack. That will certainly be a challenge.

    Ok, how about this.  If the carbs are off, hook up the fuel lines and gravity feed the carbs but may not have as much force as a pump pushing the fuel through...   :dunno:

      :dunno: i will be getle  :horse:  :horse:  :eek2:   :bigsmile: no real solution to your problem,but maybe a start- maybe the moroso pan holds 7 quart fith the quart in the filter accounted for?? no big difference i guess.hm,in sweden a liter is more than a quart,i think it says 0,9 L something on the bottles with a quart,?have you owned the car since the last oil change?maybe a Turkish guy was the previous owner and filled it up as per their specs, or a bad repro oil stick?  :dogpile:

    Managed to email the previous owner about my carb problem and here is the answer I received:

    When you get on it the front or back carb. Will sometimes stick open and flood everything. If it happens when your moving-keep the engine running to help burn the excess fuel, if it happens and you shut off the engine then you’ll have to wait until it’s all dry before the engine will restart.
