1971 Cuda Ragtop $$$

Hi People, I just found a holy grail ? 1971 Cuda Convert 440 ,6 pack ,Auto trans ,in storage since 1986 .This beast sits 4 miles from my house.Found it from a friend of a friends.I will be looking at it this summer.So color and pixs will follow.The owner says it needs restoration and was last appraized at $300k.NOT FORSALE. Anyone have production figures on this??? Tags there,he's looking for build sheet.Whats it worth?

I don't even think a hemi restored rag top would bring that cash.
Not in this market anyway. 

Definitely want to know the options and see some pics though!!

I believe there were 17 440 six pack convertibles in 71.  more automatics than manuals. That would be quite the find. If it was appraised at $300K in 86 how the hell could some one let it get to the point that it needs a full resto now? Hard to believe.

There was less then 20 for sure. A real 440-6pack 71 Cuda Vert will bring huge $. I'm guessing well over $300k restored but unrestored condition will be tough as we haven't seen one sell lately. I recently heard there was a project one found in Canada. Acudadude are you in Canada?

I would guess around 150,000.00 not restored unmolested orginal.

At $300,000.00 for a project convertible 71 cuda, regardless if it's for sale or not, it's all the same....  not selling.

There is a statement I would argue with.   I think any e-body Hemi Cuda convertible will bring 7 figures!

If the car was fully restorted, I would think that $300,000 is not out of the question to the right buyer.  I can not even dream about having enough cash to think of buying something like that.  You have to keep in mind that a car that rare would sell to a very weathy car collector and because of the actual production numbers being so low.  I think you could get it.

Appraisals don't mean squat.

However...if the sucker is super clean, a cool color w/great options, and lots of valid documentation, I don't think $300k is totally out of the question.

Remember, just a couple years ago, HARDTOP six-pack '71s were selling in the $200-250k range.  Granted, they're restored, but a 'vert should command at least double a hardtop.

So say $300k, plus $100k for a top-notch restoration.  $400k is not that outrageous.  Cheaper than what '69 ZL-1s go for.

But regardless, can you get some pics and maybe a shot of the fender tag?  Would like to see which one it is in Ola's registry.

Keep in mind that a car that rare, if it is real, would be by default famous.

Should have sold a few years ago.... those days are long gone.   Just like the price of gas in Jan. 2009 was $1.61, but doesn't really matter today.  He's not getting 300K nor or we paying $1.61 for gas.

Look around, restored V code 71 hardtops can't seem to get low $100's in today's market (REAL RESTORED SIX PACKS).  Paying $300,000.00 for a project convertible that might still need $75,000 to $100,000 more to restore it RIGHT would make this a long shot to recover any money.  That's a BIG gamble.

Another '71 hemi cuda (original) sold the same day for 250K, it was black, can't find the link.

440 not as desirable as a true hemi, but it sure doesn't $uck!
Depending on the restoration necessary for the '71 440, I too think 300K is a little rich.
And what I know about restoring 'cudas will fit in a shot glass with enough room left over to
pour a decent drink.

my aunt less has a black 426 hemi challenger conv,she got it new when she was 20 or so the last time i seen it out of the gardge it was like 82 or 83 this thing is mint and all stock.she will not sell it though it was her first new car and she loves it.i told her it is worth some good cash and after my uncel died she needs the money but still will not get ride of it,i will try to get some pics of it,and yes it is the real deal she bought it new i wounder what it is worth.
