1970 'Cuda w/383 magnum. 4-speed, 3.55 posi rear end, Triple black, Rallye gauges, A/C, no P/S, AM/FM thumb-wheel multi-plex stereo radio, rear window defogger, 15" Steeles with dog dish caps, space saver spare.  Factory order.  $4200 OTD.  Sold three years later for $2800    Got some old Kodak pics around here somewhere.  If I can find them, I scan and post.

Pontiac has always been my 2nd choice.  Mopars have always been rare. Well at least the Challengers, Cuda's, Chargers, and roar Runners....  And more expensive than the other brands.  When a nice Camaro was $1000, and a '60s Mustang was $1500, a Charger or Challenger was $2-2500.

So, this was my 2nd car.  a '73 Firebird.  My family moved to San Diego when I was in my junior year of high school and I picked this up after a few months of flipping burgers and the proceeds of selling my 1st car. A Chevette.  I paid $800 for it in '87.

Nice! I would have to say if it had to not be a Mopar... my 2nd choice would be a Chevelle Malibu or Olds 442. Very nice looking cars to me. Exiting times for you guys that lived the moment on the track and street. Thanks for sharing.

That car must've been cool with the 360 in it.  We used to have a Dodge Aspen, with a slant 6 though.  Those were fairly light cars from what I remember.  With 15 Rallye rims and fat rear tires and the fender flares they looked cool, IMO...

I always like the Firebirds too.  We had an 80 Turbo Trans Am (Black/red eagle and red interior) and an '81 Trans Am (non-turbo, white gold eagle/tan interior).  Always liked the smoked out tail panel on the 79-81 cars but I do love the fron end of the 70-73 cars and especially the Formula dual scoop hood.

On craigslist I saw the best of both worlds.  It was a '79 so it had the blacked out tail panel and t-roofs and it had a 70 nose and a Formula hood.  Only $3,000.  Would have loved to have that one.  Pic below.

Yeah it was pretty cool, had the push button auto stick, console mounted tach, locking console, window louvers were cool when they were in one piece. I went through alot of tires with that car. Would not have won any trophies at the track but it got me from Camas washington to Bend Ore in 2 hrs once. Did I Type that out loud.

Boy, I know I've entered geezerdom when I have to admit my first car was a 58 Dodge Crusader 2 dr ht that I yanked the flat 6 out of and installed a 318 poly with a 4 barrel intake off an old hemi and it's dual point distributor and a Hurst SyncroLock for the 3 speed stick. The old barge laid 125 ft of rubber one fine day in the high school parking lot. Try that today.

My first Mopar happened by accident. I had sold a '57 chevy 2 door hardtop sporting a big 283 2 barrel with a glide.   

I was a chevy man and was looking for a new ride. I searched and couldn't really find what I wanted. I just happened to stop in my local Mopar dealer and they had a '73 Dart Sport 340. I took it for a test drive and that thing would flat out run. I bought it that day. Sorry, I don't know if I ever took any pics of it. It was like the Beast - dark green.
Been a Mopar man ever since. Started doing the Hemi car thing in '79 and had quite a few of them. Now I have the beast and I guess one of these days I will sell it and get something else. Time will tell....

A co-worker friend was telling me about the duster 340 he had up until a few yrs ago , he had the 340 stroked, tranny , suspension beefed, said it was barely streetable. Would bring the front tires off the ground a few inches every time he got on it. Said a few times it scared the crap out of him. Another co-worker a while back went to jail for a while!! he said he used to run contraband in his indy built and blown hemi challenger. The law caught up to him after a while lost the car after a long stint in the Big house he turned his life around. Now he wants another challenger. Wild some of the stories yah hear. Mopars bring out interesting conversations.

I bought my Challenger from a guy who had a friend who was going to prison. The friend owed the seller money, so he gave him the car the settle the debt, and then the seller advertised it to get the money out of it quick.
