Challenger replacement poll
« on: March 12, 2012 - 09:59:53 AM »
With all the swirl lately about the possibility of a cuda replacing the Challenger in the coming years I thought it would be fun to get the people on heres perspective on what year cuda this new car should resemble assuming of course they do another retro style car.
Personnally I would like to see a 71 style with billboard stripes and a shaker hood, or a 70 AAR.

:iagree: but really Mopar could do a early 68-69 style with a different performance set-up and a 71 style also. Cater to different styles at the same time. One a little lower in sticker price. I would not be dissapointed with a Dodge Cuda!! will be coming out about the same time I am gonna need a new ride.

I might be all be myself on this and may get rocks hurled at me but I'm thinking all new design.  I guess I'm talking moreso related to chassis design.

My reasoning for this is that unless it's based on a different chassis, it's the same old, same old.  The Challenger, while being a great car, very fast, but performacewise usually is in 3rd place when it comes to keeping up Mustang and Camaro.  If the exterior were to be a rehash of an old design, I think some people would think that the car is based on the LX or whatever platform the current 300 is based on, which the Challenger is based on, which doesn't lend itself to be competative enough.

So, although I would love to see a retro '71 Cuda appear, I say all new design, exterior and under the skin.  :2cents:

I agree with Phil's reasoning completely. I was answering the question as :In your perfect world..." and in my perfect world it would be an all new platform optimized as a pony car.

I have to say I am not surprised by the results so far. Most of the cuda conversion kits on the market are to make the Challenger look like a 71.

Yup, they already did what they did to the Challenger, can't cry over spilled milk.  (Or maybe you can...  :grinyes: ) but hopefully IF they do something with the Cuda name, they'll look at their mistakes and improve them.

Hopefully they will knock 750-1000LBS off it and add the new supercharged Hemi to it. I hope they keep the retro look.
