Ok, I'm back at home, sorry didn't see your last PM Laurie until now, yes I was still there! Very cool story about Spinal Tap!
I got there at 3pm with my son and daughter and we walked around, got an autograph of the Disney girl their for my daughter (only 2 people in line at that point.) then raced RC cars a few times, talked with the guy I know that owns the Mad Max Interceptor...
OK, talked to Jerry, he got your email about the Father's day car show. Said it'll be tough. I told him to save you a spot on his pit crew should he make ther that day.
He said Father's day gets tough as they are all fathers and such and they get busy around then. That car is mint up close! They said it took 8 months to restore. 5,000hp can't be all that bad!
Yes, I took some pics of his car, I'll upload them after I eat my dinner! Almost midnight now. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow. Getting tired...
OK, so, my wife is nice enough to pick up the kids so I can hang out at the show which ened at 7pm. Before 7pm, everyone is starting to take down there set ups/displays, I helped one of the guys I know, then you start to hear some of the cars start up and start to line up to move out! It was so cool seeing the cars moving around on their own power. I almost got hit by a GTO!
At that point I ran outside and started filming the cars as they drove down the street. So cool seeing rat rods, muscle cars and antiques driving home or to their trailers. It was raining at that point. PADAWAN met me there and then we got closer to the building where a guy I met who worked for the WOW said he would be and he said we could stick close to him. Didn't see him and so we went to see if we could peek into the exhibit hall.
Last year there was a security guard there that stopped me from going into the exhibit hall so I had to watch from a far. This time the security guard wsn't there so we walked back into the show and got to see the cars loading into their trailers and and starting up and leaving for home. Later there were 3 security guards at the door so we were fortunate they weren't there when we walked in.
It turns out the guy I befriended was a coworker with the guy who organizes the WOW in Boston and he said we could hang out but just becareful as there are a lot of things moving around. PADAWAN stayed until I think 8:30pm or so, I left at about 10pm.
I was getting dizzy from all the exhaust fumes in there. Before I left I got to see a burnt orange prostock Nova start up. I think I stood too close, my hair smells like unburnt gas!
It was pretty cool all in all.
