OK, I just posted to the other car forums I'm on, and sent out a mass email to all my friends locally and around New England.
Included in that email are 2 retired cops who are gear heads, maybe they have some ideas.

Let's get a Craigs List post ready ASAP and get it posted across the country, does Canada and Mexico have Craig's List? I'd suggest
a post to eBay too but how dumb can these criminals be?

The car was taken from a locked garage, someone who knows the owner is probably responsible. Assuming the area was suburban,
do any homes in the area have security cameras that may have caught a glimpse of the tow truck? This is something the cops need
to be looking at. ANYONE who knew that car was there is suspect....  friends, neighbors, shop workers, the kid at NAPA.....

Excellent idea, someone contact MassPort ASAP!

What a shame.

Laurie

Just a thought? I'd somehow contact the border patrol both US and Canadian and give them the tag # and vin. Montreal is a common shipping port for car theives! If someone tries to cross the border with it at least it might get flagged.

I'm going to post to Facebook as well.  Pintrest may be another place to get the picture out on the web.

Hopefully, it will become so well recognized, and the lowlife won't realize it, that they will make a mistake.

Wouldn't put it past them to show up at a cruise night, or other event.

Here's another place it could show up in the local area: http://www.cruisingamherstnhauto.com/  .  This starts up in about a month.  So, I'll be keeping an eye out on it there.

You mean to tell me they check every VIN of a car crossing the border.  NOPE

Maybe not every Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.  But this is a unique car, and as such it should stand out.

Hey Jeff!

Hope your friend that got his car stolen gets some leads.  The sooner you find it the better!!!!

I was wondering if there is an email address that can be put in a craigslist ad?  Title to read: Stolen purple Dodge Challenger".  I figure that would catch people's attention and if you put in ad in CL it can reach people all over MA, even put in ad in NH or even Vermont.

Just trying to figure a way to get the word out.

Putting threads in car sites is good but the a) no everyone that could have seen this car goes on those website, I know I don't.
b) you need a log on to the forum to reply or contact someone

...so a contact email might be good.  If someone sees the post if they see an email then they can contact that person.  I can put up ads for you if you want, I'll use the info and pic you had in your thread.

We can put multiple CL ads.  Post the ad you want and we can all post in our local area an other areas as well.

Lemme know whatcha need me to do.

Does your friend belong to a forum?  Just trying to figure out how someone would know where that car is assuming the person who stole it was from New Hampshire....did he state the location of the car like on a cardomain site or something?

Jeff, just saw your ad.

-You need to put a pic of the car so it sticks in peoples heads and they can visualize it.

-Put a bunch of different keywords in the body of the ad: mopar, dodge, plymouth, challenger, barracuda, cuda, chevy, ford.  This way when a person does a search for a car that is in your keywords, your ad will show up.

-I don't know how to do mass postings.  Have you tried just running ads in different areas.  I can copy and paste you ad with a pic and keywords if you want so we can attack it from different angles.

Good idea for the reward!  Money talks!  I'm in for $25.

How about your ad if it looked like this.  Members here can post to the CL in their area with your approval:

Title: Please help!  Stolen Purple 1971/1973 Dodge Challenger

I just found out my buddies 1973 Dodge Challenger recently.

It is plum crazy with a 1971 nose with a chrome scoop coming out of the hood.

It was taken from the Burncoat St. area of Worcester, MA yesterday.  The only details I got so far was a flat bed truck was seen with New Hampshire liscense plates.

PLEASE everyone keep your eyes open for it, especially you New Hampshire/New England folks.

Any help at all would be GREATLY appreciated.

Please reply to the craigslist contact above.

Added some fill light to make the side easier to see and zoomed in on the car.

No they don't check vins but if they are stupid enough to drive over with the tag( which they do check and photograph and it goes into a computor) then having the vin also registered will seal the deal so to speak. Or ya never know a border guard might be a car guy and hear or see a post somewhere on the net  and take notice. It doesn't hurt.

That sucks, i hate theives ! MAKE REAL SURE THE 71 NOSE IS HIGHLIGHTED BIG or else it could slip past someone who is looking. I would consider WHO & what any of his friends would stand to gain by having it stolen ! Look very close at any of his contacts suddenly having extra money they normally do not have or something newly purchased. I have seen this happen before where someone gave information to theives for a price THEN, made sure the clues went the wrong way.
good luck finding it & the theives who should be dragged behind the nearest and fastest 426 HEMI
