    Has anyone ever installed or know someone who has one of the premolded dash caps on an ebody?  I think they are several manufactures out there.

    I've read posts from a couple of members here who had them and haven't been impressed. The one failure I recall is that the cap would stay glued down.

    I tried one and would not recommend it. Warps in the heat, mine cracked in the first year, looks are marginal. :2cents:
    Paid $110, waste of $ in my opinion.

    Well.........I bought one in 2006...........installed in 2007 and haven't had a bit of a problem..   She does stay in  the garage all the time unless at shows or cruseins.........and has been in the hot sun some but not a lot.  I am pleased so far as $600-$700 was way out of my ball park for a new pad.

    Thanks for the info and the pics,  I had not even seen one of the caps and wasn't sure how it would look on arrival.  I'm sure that dash prep has a huge amount to do with success rate but other then that do you have any installation advice?

    Hey Doug......nothing to do but follow the directions.......I used a little of the adhesive in what I thought were the key spots that may let go after installation.  So far....so good.   I will post some pics of the actual dash pad this went over.........

    Just made a few pics of the todays look.  She is in the garage so the lighting isn't that good but here goes.....By the way.........I did remove the duct tape and sanded down the high spots on the original dash........and it was a 73 pad that I covered.....

    I installed one in my 73 nice fit and looks good. Use lots of bungee cords and rolled up pieces of cardboard to hold it in place while the adhesive dries. It is a lot easier if the windshield or the dash is out.  Mine is fresh so I don’t know about longevity.

    Yours looks like it was a higher quality piece Dayley, still lacking the 'crispness' of a $600 part but it looks quite good.

    Mine was made by Accu-form plastics. Can't say for sure it wasn't my installation, but I tend to think it was the quality of the part that has given me the sour outlook on dash caps.

    Thanks Dodj........I do wish the stitching was there but then again...........I guess thats where the $600 comes in..........I am not sure who made mine as it was ordered thru Year One.  And I think the pricing was about $90 then plus the high cost of freight.................. :faint:
