Now that the rear brakes are done although I need to work some magic with the ebrake because of my subframe connectors but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

I have finally put all four tires on her and now I'm looking to figure out a way to have the lettering show up in white again. I got these Indy Firehawks as the last four in a 600 mile area and they were set on top of each other. So the oily residue has clipped the top part of the lettering. Should clean off or I can just repaint them white again.

Well Tom here is the shot finally of all four tires on. Soon the column, then brake booster and then crank her over. The end of the tunnel is in sight!!!

I'm planning on the same brand of tires. Lookin great!!!  :ylsuper:

What size tires did you end up with? I have the Firehawk rears but lookin for the fronts now.

Back in the day we used white wall cleaner on the white lettering. Not sure what's out there these days but I'm sure the lettering will clean up. Or like you said, paint them.

Please keep us posted on the column and brake booster.  :2thumbs:

Yes, white-wall cleaner.

Go to WalMart and pick up a spray bottle of Bleach-White cleaner in the automotive dept. Pick up a scrub brush too. Those letters will look brand new.

Well folks two pieces of good news today.

1) I finally got my steering column figured out and properly setup to go into the car, equipped with a new bearing and a coat of paint.
2) After fabbing some mounts for my new overflow I got her right where I want her.

Car will get it's steering column in tomorrow nite.

Well after much monkeying around under the dash I got the guages installed and so there is really only the steering column (dent header) and the booster and master cylinder to finish this one off.

Sometimes I wish I was half my size so I could get under the dash easier to route and clean up stuff.

Well here's a state of the union now.

In my attempts to dent the header which is no small feat I have only moved it inward a little bit. The steering column is moving past the point where it was stuck before but now it still rests on the header itself - not good.

The new plan is to shim the steering box to the right to get clearance on both tubes 2 and 4. I have room between the box and the frame rail so this should work out, just got to put her back up again and get to work on the steering box now. I might get some time tonite after work.

I probably should post up some pics to help others who have gone down my route as well.

SUCCESS!!!

Thank god the Steering Column is now in the car. Here are some pics to show you how much movement I got by shimming the 2 rightmost bolts with 1/8" shims. Nothing is touching now and the #2 header which was super close to the box is now farther away!!!

I had a problem with #2 and #4 tubes and now the steering column is about almost 1/4" away from the steering shaft and the coupler has ample enough room to clear #2 tube as it rotates!!!

Moving right along again!
