New receiver needed . . time to upgrade.
« on: April 02, 2012 - 11:39:31 AM »
So now that the times are changing and I-pods are available . . . I would like to get the multi-disk CD player out of the glove box and move to a receiver that I can plug my I-pod into . . . . so what does everyone have or recommend?  Is there a unit that has an internal memory that can store music without using the I-pod?  I know my new truck has memory and stores songs without having the wire to the I-pod . . . all opinion are appreciated.

Since I have the dash tore apart, I thought I would upgrade.  And also now I have to install a new heater core and the CD player will need to be removed anyways?   :eek4:

I know what you want, but I haven't seen one after-market yet.

Here's a possible solution...

I kept the original radios in all my classic cars, just had the radio guru put MP3 plugs in all of them.  Nobody knows you have upgraded to modern music.

I haven't got far enough to decide on my Challenger stereo yet. I just bought a great Pioneer unit ( http://pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-6400BT ) for my pickup truck. It has a plug in on the face for I-Phone or I-Pod, Bluetooth and CD. I can control my I-Phone (including my phone contacts) entirely through the controls on the tuner and play music (I keep all my music on my phone) either through bluetooth or the little cable thingy.
By far, the nicest car stereo I've ever owned!  :2cents:

What radio do you have now?

Most aftermarket radios has an AUX selection.  ANything plugged into that is usually with RCA connections.   You can get then an RCA-->3.5mm stereo plug.  Get an extension cable and it can plug into your ipod.

Unless you really want to control your ipod from the radio, which is a royal PITA and not very good either.   Most folks just control the ipod from the ipod itself.

That's pretty slick!I wish it would work with my Android phone? Not everyone is into apple stuff?I like the customizable lighting!
I too have a Pioneer. One reason I bought mine is because it had the green lighting to match the dash lighting. That and I have this hate thing going on with Sony. I've never had one Sony product that didn't give me grief, tv's , car stereo's, home stero's, kid PS3 ( we are on our 3rd one!grrrr) etc...
Pioneer stuff I'v always had great luck with! :2thumbs:

4C mentioned I-Pod. The USB port on the face of the Pioneer will enable him to play his music and charge his I-pod at the same time.

Brad, there is an aux jack also. I don't know how the Android thingys work.
