Poll,Cuda hood or not?
« on: February 04, 2005 - 06:40:04 PM »
I'm in the process of restoring my 70 barracuda gran coupe as many of you know.I am on the fence about keeping it completely original or putting a cuda hood(which i already have) on it or the stock flat hood.WHat should i do?The cuda hood is the only thing i would change if i were to.The car is numbers matching 383hp and everything is there,one of 674 gran coupe's 383 super commando's
thanks

So uh...where`s the poll?  :coffee: Easy one anyway-put on the `cuda hood and of course keep and paint the original and you can swap `em anytime you want.

If your car was manufactured durring the time that the Cuda hood was an option on th GC, then I would use it on a numbers matching car. I might still use it otherwise , but??  Yes, paint and keep the orig. hood as well.

 :iagree:

Paint em both and then you can swap any time you'd like. I've also painted two trunk lids and had 1 with the rear spoiler and 1 without.

Cuda hood mate.  ;) :iagree: Even purists know that things like wheels and hoods can be changed during a coffee break.

Keep the original safe and enjoy that new hood.  8)

a rallye hood was an available option in 70 and 71 on GC B'cudas. matter of fact, it was an option on standard e-body barracudas all years.

Hey Moparnut, personally I wouldn't care if it came on it or not on that year or model, it will look great on it regardless, your build sheet wouldn't match it anyway, so I'd just go for it and keep the other hood for those concourse shows where you can be proud that it's a perfect numbers car! Got any pics?

H0ow do i tell if it was an option in 1970?

According to Paul Herd;
Part #3417069 was an option on a GC after Nov 25th 1969, option J54. It had to include hood hold down pin option J45. The call outs on a 340 would read 340 Four Barrel.

So it was not an option on early cars (mine was built in Oct).

I think if you have a rare numbers matching car, addition of a part that was at least available is not a bad idea (to each his own). After all, it is known that some options missed getting on the fender tag.

And it's a great hood.
