2013 DODGE VIPER UNVEILED!!!

I'm glad I'm the first to post this - kind'f appropriate, isn't it?!

The 2013 Dodge Viper has been unveiled at the New York International Auto Show.  I personally was planning to attend, but due to cost (and vacation days) decided against it.  I think that may have been a mistake...









Specifications and such are still being collected.  We know it's a 640 horsepower V10 with 6-speed manual transmission.  Supposedly an automatic (spits in defiance) will be offered at some point in the near future.  No word yet on if the V8 from the SRT8 Challenger/300/Charger will be made available.

Personally it looks to me like they returned to the roots of the Generation I and II Vipers.  Take this side profile as an example:

I personally am VERY glad to see this, as I thought the Gen III and IV cars (03 through 09) were a bit on the "boxy" side, with more flat lines and sharp edges.

I think this car is gorgeous and personally, I plan on saving my pennies.  I think this might be a win for Chrysler, even if the front grill has a slight nod to Alfa Romeo...

Front, very very Italian. But hey, not necessarily a bad thing, Italian makes pretty damn nice design on cars and motorcycles.... long ways to save this pennies, huh

The car looks great!!!  A stunning piece of machinery!  I thought that Dodge was pulling the plug on the Viper?  So glad they're not!!!

Interior is superb...finally.

Wheels kinda...tiny?  18F, 19R?  Guess gotta save weight.  Was expecting also carbon ceramic front brakes, which I'd expect in a $140k car?

I like it...a lot, but ya know, it looks (side profile, rear) WAY too much like a Gen II GTS.  I kinda wish the profile was a LITTLE bit different, but it is pretty much 95% the same.  What gives?


Also, I'm VERY interested to know if they'll develop a ROADSTER version.  First time ever, a new generation Viper doesn't have a roadster version to go with it.

Ragtop - I agree it looks just like a Gen II, and I couldn't be happier.    To each their own of course, but I think a lot of the Viper community was actually asking for a "return to old."

I thought this was pretty cool: I found some other high-res photos of the car.  They've actually "hidden" layouts of famous road circuits inside the interior!!

This is the cup-holder/parcel tray area between the seats at the back of the cabin.  Recognize the layout?



And this is the passenger-door window switch with a small tray (I'm guessing for a cell phone or something...)  Hard to see but you can still make out the track...
