window regulator question
« on: April 06, 2012 - 08:15:29 AM »
O.k I just found out that no window regulator should be left in during sand blasting! I am installing the glass now and these bad boys fell a little crunchy when rolling up and down . Would it be better to take apart and clean them or just find a used set? I really am burning up all the extra time I have on this car and if spending more than an hour on each reg is what it takes then I will buy a used set!
That said , anyone with extra regulators for sale can pm me!!!!!!!!  But if these are easily taken apart then anyone with some pics would be awesome. As  always, thanks

Brake cleaner and lacquer thinner do wonders to clean the mechanisms out, if not, I have some extras, where are you located??
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I just cleaned mine up.
They had a bunch of old grease, sand & dirt in them also.

What I did was spray them down in brake cleaner and scrubbed em with a small nylon brush.
Then I built a tray and lined it with a thick plastic liner.

Next: A gallon and a half of Evaporust poured in the tray.
Put the parts in and washed em in it for a few hours making sure they stayed wet all over.
(Diluted Mollasses works too but not as fast)

Water washed em, dryed them. Then put Rust Prevention Magic on to keep them looking new.

A couple cans of brake clean and some scrubbin got all the sand out. Scrubbed them up and lubed everthing up and presto they actually came back to life. Thanks for the replies!
Also I did not take apart my doors so I am winging the bolt placements. Can anyone tell me where the allen head bolts belong inside my doors? looks like 2 per side

They go at the top of the door for adjustment of the window track.
