How does this sound to you? My son Derrick
« on: April 06, 2012 - 08:54:01 PM »
My son wrote and sings this song. I am not used to his era of music, but I love him just the same. I use to let him play my guitar when he was young. He drove me nuts, but has stayed with it for a few years now.

The name of his band is Dash between the lines.  Not sure what it means.  But he is happy, and I am proud of him.  He has written a  few dozen songs now and records them himself.

I like it. Sounds grunge, or possibly post-grunge, to my ear, and that's a sound I tend to like. If I heard this on the radio I'd be motivated to seek out some more.

Hey thanks guys. I am very proud of all my children. When Derrick comes over my house, he constantly asks me to play and show him my music from the 60's and 70's.  I think he has 2 albums about done. I have some of his demo first CD's .

I paid to let him go to St Paul Mn for 4 yrs to a place called Go ministeries. He did theater, art, and Ministry.  I let him take my old Martin with  him. That's what he learned on while up there, along with a borrowed electric guitar. Now he spends money on music equipment , like we do on cars. They are doing gigs now in a few local stes to him around Louisiana, Bars, night clubs, weddings and such.

I will let Derrick know that I posted his song here and tell him about your comments.  When first starting out in the music field. Everyone needs as much positve feedback as they can absorb

Hey Alan,

Loved it! They rock!  :ylsuper:  I'll have Anna and Eric take a listen, too.

I still think your rendition of "Dead Skunk In The Middle Of The Road" is right up there with that!  :roflsmiley:

You should tell him to look into getting a gig at the Crawfish Festival in Biloxi or maybe one of the venues at Cruisin' the Coast along Hwy 90 in MS.

Sounds good!!!
