Stripe Dilemma
« on: April 07, 2012 - 10:26:06 AM »
I love the stripes on my Challenger but I always said that if I got one I wanted to make it look as much like an original as possible.  That being said, I'm not sure what to do about stripes.  Any suggestions?  Here's what it looks like now.

I like the factory stripes especially with your car's color, and they have the advantage of already being on the car and paid for.  Unless you are sure you want different stripes, I would keep these for, say, 6 months or so.  You can always put more retro-styled stripes on later.  To me, the 70-style hood blackout is nice but the 71-style side stripes are my favorite on the modern Challenger.

WOW !

Anyway,  I like the stripes you have on your car now.

If you want to change them, I like the side stripes and white would really pop with your base colour.

No need to knock other member's rides on this forum, they have Chevy and Ford forums for stuff like that.

There are folks, myself included, for whom resale value is not a consideration, or not the primary consideration. For me, I'll never sell. Some folks enjoy improving appearance, and others just have more money than God and need something to do with it. Stripes are a cheap enough investment that I'd say it falls under "Do it if it makes you happy."

...none of them will be worth anything for a long long time , why not make it the way you want it...a few bucks for a stripe is not big deal if it makes you happier with the car...these HEMI Challengers are mass produced, plenty for everyone for decades to come

I think It'sall good. I don't think anyone took offense. Just a different point of view.

Thanks for all the input.  Everyone is allowed to their opinion and I am not offended.  I am not concerned about what the stripes do or don't do for the value of the car.  I am one who drives this car just for the love of it.   :)  I have always loved the side stripe but when I started looking at them I didn't realize there would be so many options.  I am not going to do anything right away.  I've been reading a little about the Carlisle car show in July.  Is anyone planning on going or know anything about the show?  I'm thinking I can look at cars in person and maybe get a little better feel of what I would like.

Lots of members attend Carlisle every year. It's up in the air whether I can make it myself, but there's always a club tent and members cars lined up around it.
