I can agree with you on that one, I understand  why shops would prefer doing the work.

Just a word of Caution...Anybody that is worth anything when it comes to reputation as far as bodywork/paint goes, will NOT paint a car that the OWNER has done bodywork to.

This isn't to belittle your work, but rather he/she doesn't want to have their rep ruined by making your shotty bodywork shine. This happened to me once. Never again. If I can't do the mud work, then I won't paint it.

Well I finally found a Barracuda that I really really liked and here it is. It is a 1965 Barracuda 318 V8. It is in really good shape, some flaws here and there, but seemed fair price at 8k.

I'm not a big one for yellow in general but I love those 1st gen Barracudas. Since they beat the Mustang to the market, if there were any justice "pony cars" would be called "fishy cars"

Looks great.  Does that mean you are now the proud owner of that beauty?  Looks sharp with yellow paint.  You are gonna have a great summer behind the wheel that her.

Yup proud owner jus bought it yesterday. I was also not a real fan of yellow but for some reason the yellow goes great with this car. I do not think I even want to change the color in the future if I ever wanted to re-paint this beauty.

Looks like a fun car :)  What are your plans for it?  Back to stock? Resto mod? Or just drive it as is until the wheels fall off? :)

Welcome aboard...     They let ALL the Barracudas hang out around here. Great group of folks. They even allow my junk to stay. Here is a little pic from a cruise the other evening:

Yep, these cars are very special!! when I was 17 a buddy and I were traveling down the freeway at 2 am with ledzep playing on the 8 track (1975)....suddenly the deck eats the tape, both lean in to fix it and hit heads, well everything after that was a little blurry (I don’t think the pot and beer helped). But to make a long story short, we side swiped a cop car parked on the side of the freeway at about 70 miles an hour as he was writing a lady a ticket, broke all the windows of the cops car on impact  plus 2 flat tires.....We didn't even notice what happened...until in what seemed to be a few min. but was only seconds, I noticed the fender blinker on the passenger side was gone, along with the antenna and the mirror?

Rudy ( my buddy) looks in the rearview and freezes.......as the cop is closing in on us with 2 flat tires and wind blowing in his face.....I will leave the rest to your imaginations. True story!

Welcome to the site. That's money well spent as you'd have spent way more on the first one. I like the first gen Barracudas, too and they're nasty little ba$tards with a hot 340 in them.

Right now i want to do a resto mod, but who knows maybe i will switch to back to stock.  I really want to improve somethings and drive the heck out of this car.

Congrats on the purchase!!!  I remember when I bought my first 'Cuda - I was right around 27 myself!  And in fact my story was the same - dad had a 72 since before I was born, and as I got older, wanted to relive those memories, so I bought a '73 of my own.

It was a good call getting a car that had a solid body & paint to begin with.  I had to part ways with my 'Cuda in 2009 because the rust was getting so bad that I knew it'd be north of $50K getting it properly restored.  You've saved yourself a lot of heartache in the future.

Take good care of her, and welcome to the club!  Not sure where you live (may have missed it) but we'd love to see the new ride at Carlisle's All Chrysler Nationals this year!
