Show me your add on amp locations
« on: April 11, 2012 - 01:04:47 AM »
 :feedback:

Trying to find good places to put an amp, was thinking maybe on the bottom of the package shelf or on the backside of the back seat support. Where are you mounting yours??
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I havent finished ours yet. I was either going to fabricate a basket/carriage system to support it between the rear speakers in the back if we decided to go with a hidden stereo system, or I was going to make a faux wall between the rear seat supports and the wheel wells to hide that nicely with a color matched metal back and a clear view window to show off the amp and subs while at the same time cleaning up the rear trunk. That maybe hard to visualize. I still have to play with the idea.

When I took out the speaker box, I mounted the amp to the bottom of the package tray.  Simple and works ok.

I've got mine mounted under drivers seat. Wires just run through small hole in carpet and then out to the channel next to door opening. Nice and clean install.

200w Kicker amp.

My seats don't have any spacers on them and it still clears fine. You can't see a thing unless you stick your head in the floor well.

That's where I wanted to mount mine, but with a six-way seat, it wasn't happening.   :grinno:

I had to mount mine in the trunk by default.

Mike, are you bringing the 70 to Carlisle? I'd like to see how the 6 way seats work? We are both tall. I find myself wishing either that the seat would tilt back more or that it would slide back more and give my legs more room.

Brad,

I have my 2009 Chally registered, but I could change that I guess.

The six-way seat allows you to move both the back and the front of the seat up and down. Kinda neat for back then.   :grinyes:

I'll gladly bring my 70 if it makes you happy.    :swaying:

Do you " fit" better with the 6 way adjustments? Does it make it more comfortable?

That's hard to say. I never had the standard two way seat tracks, so I really can't compare the two.

When i bought my cuda 15 yrs ago the PR had an amp under each front seat. Seemed to fit well.

My solution to your question was building this "table" under the package tray.  That allowed me good room to mount amplifier and 6" sub woofer box.  I'm planning to eventually box out my trunk, so when I do, this set up will be hidden from view completely.
