Emergency Brake Cables
« on: April 11, 2012 - 10:59:17 PM »
When I purchased my car, the entire e-brake assembly was missing.  I found a complete cable kit but it says it is for a 70 cuda.  Will this work for a 72?

No it won't work.

70 Cuda's & Challengers have a different cable set up.

71 up have a rod that runs off of the trans mount to equalize the pull on each side.
70's don't do this.

That picture looks like the cables have been modified for subframe connectors.

Topcat is correct.  1970 is a completely different setup.  Fine Lines sells the correct kits for your car.  At one time, Inline Tube was supplying the wrong length front cables in their kits.  I don't know if this was corrected.

Thanks for the replies.  They list with or without intermediate cable.  How do you know which one to choose?

71-74 use the intermediate cable.

I assume the intermediate cable is shorter on the Cuda but if it helps my "stainless" Challenger kit is # BCE02S.  That is from Fine Lines.  I believe they include a new floorpan grommet with their kits now.  Ask to make sure.

I visited Fine Lines' web site and found no brake cables at all, only brake lines.  Maybe I have the wrong link?  :dunno:  I am looking for the front cable for our '72, the one the connects to the brake lever under the dash on one end, and the trangular equalizer on the other.

Thanks

As mentioned, Inline Tube sells a complete set: everything from the pedal to the drake drums.

I just installed this one last year. Very good price and went in perfect.
