Another Progress Update!
« on: February 05, 2005 - 05:20:45 PM »

Spent about 6 hours today with Jeff (the amazing body shop guy) in the garage. Got some good progress done, not enough, but it's a step forward!! We laid out exactly what we're going to do next time, and we measured and drilled for the passenger seat. Once we got that in, we found out that the brackets I ordered with the seats are too flimsy and buckle under weight transfer. So, next Sunday, he's coming back down and is going to have some new brackets made out of 18 gauge steel to put in there instead!! We also went over every inch of the car and found 6 different places on the body that still need attention. Some of you may remember how pissed I was that the car got taken away from him before he was finished with it at the body shop... so, Monday morning, I'll be calling Ed (the owner of the body shop), informing him of the places that need attention (4 dents, 1 paint imperfection, and 1 rippling/bubbling area).

I won't be able to get the car up to him until she's driveable, but this way he's got the heads up and I've got time to find any other areas that are screwed up.... we weren't too happy today!! :gripe:

But, on a lighter note, the passenger side seat is in, the rear brakes have all new hardware, the dash wiring is all sorted out, and the motor is being built for a 100 HP shot of NOS... :burnout:

Enjoy the pics!

AWESOME MIKE!!!  :D Love it, looks real crisp and clean.

Please don't use NOS  :-\ Isn't there some other means of added hp without using the rice inflicted method?

Remember, only babies use a bottle.  j/k

Looks great Mike.  ;) I think your in front of me again......

I'll be back.  ;D

Looking good LB!  That sucks to hear about the bad spots with the paint.  Hopefully the body shop owner will work with you on getting them fixed.
Off topic----->  Be careful about posting those pics.  You might get a visit from a couple of guys in black suits and sunglasses.  The RNC looks down on displaying stolen street signs along side Bush/Cheney posters!   J/K

Thanks for all the compliments guys!! Since those pics were taken earlier today, I now have the rear bumper on too!!

I'm going to hopefully not miss anybody's questions here....

NZ: I've got no choice on the NOS... in order to pull the numbers that I want to pull, the NOS is the cheapest and easiest way to go... turbo or supercharger would add about $2500+ more onto the budget... maybe in the future!!

Hemi71: about the color... actually got to see it again in the sunlight as it was mid 50's here today and we were able to work with the garage door open.... she SHINES!!

360cuda: oh you'd better believe about other custom touches!! I'm not going to ruin any surprises, but I will post them as they get completed!!

4C: Thanks man!! Engine is coming along... should be back hopefully by the end of the month at the latest!!

TFN: Thanks bud!

A110235: ROFLMAO!!! I love it about the RNC!! What if I told you that 20mph sign used to be my floor pan... you can still see the hints of rust hue on it!! I'll work things out with the shop.... they're not getting off easily on this!

74chall: Slant six baby!!! Got a few tricks up my sleeves as well for it!! Keep your eyes open! The final sets of tracks are going to be painted gloss black... you won't see much of 'em then!! Wish I could use my original tracks... this car was originally a bench seat up front... :banghead:

Rev: No kidding... also have to pull it back out to put DIFFERENT seat brackets in... the ones I bought from Summit (that they recommened) are too flimsy... so 18 guage steel it is!!

CARLISLE HERE WE COME!!!

Looking really good LB.  Sorry to hear about the body/paint problems.  Hopefully the body guy will be cool and have no problems fixing it, especially after spending so much money (probably putting his kids through college LOL).  The bumper looks great and so does the passenger seat!  Now all ya need is a motor and a milk crate (lol).

LB, you should turbo that slantly, Maybe a GNX turbo would fit the bill and a 1st gen dsm blow off .
Do you need any 6cyl parts? The 75 dart i have has a runnin leanin tower in her. Nick

Thanks April!! Progress is progress!!

Thanks for the offer Nick... I'm buying a Pertronix kit, so that solves the ignition problem... does the Dart have a Super Six setup or what?? I really need an Offy 4bbl manifold so I can run a cheater plate for the NOS... otherwise it's drilling and tapping each runner twice... one for each jet....

Sorry to hear about your paint problems Mike. I know how frustrating that is. After I got mine back from the paint shop I saw that the top edges of the quarter panels were REAL wavy! I wanted to go through the hemi, so I pulled it out before I took the car back to the body shop. I told the idiot that since he didn't get it right the first time he would have to use footpower to move it around the shop this time! I think he got it right this time, just waiting for him to finish the color sand and buff.
