Whatever you do, make sure it, or part of it is visible. For the most part, thieves are lazy and if it looks like it's going to be a lot of work they just walk away. There are always exceptions to the rule but for the most part making them work for it is going to scare them off. Get a steering wheel lock dealy, a boot like the cops use, a chain around the rear end to something and one around the k frame, a toggle on the starter etc.
With my Challenger I just lock it and make sure there's always a car between it and the road. Once I have the room it's going to live in the garage, but for now it's in the driveway.

Since my neighbor got broken into I've put up an 8 foot high security fence around my front door landing and topped it with sharpened spikes. It was the most probable way to get in, but now it's going to be a little tougher for them to get in. For the average thief it's going to be enough of a deterrent, but for someone that really wants in it's just going to be a minor inconvenience.

Be careful about the car parked in front of your car to protect it. A friend of mine did the same thing but did not put the E brake on. Thieves simply crawled under car that was blocking his collectors camaro in, pulled off the ****er linkage and put it in neutral. They then rolled the car into the street and had clear access in about 2 mins

Those steering wheel to brake pedal locks are useless. You can hacksaw through a steering wheel in about 20 seconds and pry it out of the way and simply pull the lock off through the cut area. It would be better to park with wheels at an angle and have a removable steering wheel. The boots around the wheel like the cops use are also a good idea.

4 post lift. Raise the car up. Put locks on the lift in such a way that they'd have to destroy the lift to get the car. The car would drop on your head.

Here is what I'm thinking about doing when I get me a cuda.

Hidden switches
Steering wheel to all pedals lock
Custom wheel boot on each wheel
Car cover with wires stitched in and 3 locks at the bottom
12 gauge  :naughty:
A tracking system connected to my phone
and finally a viper car alarm


this usually is the point where I start to think " ...and then one beautifull summernight you walk out the door.... and see smoke coming out of your shop"
I personally like the idea of finding a dead thief in the morning.    :aarg:

One of them huge trainhorns in the trunk, being triggered by the start position on the ign. switch should give one a heart attack   :scared:

DVR system coupled with a cell based GPS unit hidden in the trunk. Let's you know when the car moves 1 ft from your place. You can actually hide a couple of them as well.

I had another idea on building a watching system whereas it would alarm when the car moves away from the station instead of being in or part of the car. Heck a RFID system would work nicely.

Disassemble the car into 4 large chunks and scatter them to secure locations across the planet.  Then when Cobra goes to reassemble it...GI Joe will have ample time to stop them and will get to use all the desert and snow toys in the same episode.

I've actually looked at gps/cell systems and haven't been able to find any that had very good reviews. So I'm keeping an eye on this thread hoping someone comes up with something :)

I have an IR camera pointed at my Challenger now. If anything moves close to it an alarm goes off on the monitor beside the bed, the PC downstairs and on my phone once I get the phone thing set up. The camera also covers my wife's car, my truck, trailer and 06 Charger. I have another camera pointed at my generator at the back of the house, one watching beside the house and one watching the gate at the front door. If they get past that and make it into the house, they either have to deal with 9mm from cops or 5.7 from me

That sounds pretty effective, but I can tell you from experience that I can sleep through just about anything. I used to live right next door to a fire station, and especially during the summer the siren would go off several times a night. I trained myself to sleep through it.
