Motor, 69 Dart GTS
« on: April 17, 2012 - 08:30:28 PM »
I was doing some reading the other day and I saw that there were about 3600 340 GTSs made in 69. When I bought the motor the guy told me that it was rare, but I didn't realize how rare.

It's rebuilt, .030 over and running. If I were to sell this, what do you think it would be worth? Obviously my best bet would be to find a GTS owner with deep pockets who wanted an original motor.

Unless you can find the car that goes with that motor, than it's worth no more than any other 69 340 is worth.

Block, crank, heads, intake...I would say maybe $600 if all in good condition and the bore has plenty of meat left on it.

Heck I'd give that...probably more, I've thought about getting a different motor and putting my low mile OE up.

Just out of curiosity, how do TA blocks command more money than the average 70 block?

That's what I was thinking.  And TAs are just flat out cooler than a GTS.

But if you take coolness out of the equation, there were roughly 33% more TA blocks cast that 69 GTS blocks, so if it's a matter of rarity...  :dunno:

So, basically, no good reason to not stroke this motor? I shall move forward without guilt  :2thumbs:
