Engine Swap Question
« on: April 18, 2012 - 08:46:33 PM »
have a 71 Cuda 340 automatic, ordered a 408 Stroker Motor from Blueprint Engines which is a 360 Block With aluminum heads, just wondering if motor mounts, waterpump, exhaust manifolds, oil pan are going to fit,  didnt know if anyone else has made this swap and what problems they have run into. it comes with an oil pan but was wondering if it clears everything and if it doesnt will the 340 oil pan fit the 360 block. thanks

Motor mounts , water pump, exhaust manifolds(as long as they were on rectangle port heads) are fine.

The oil pan will work as long as it is a center sump. When you ordered the motor did you tell them what it was going into? If so they should have put the correct pan on it.  The oil pan off the 340 will not work on the 360.

will try to keep things posted, I will have to figure out how to download pictures, to start off with i ordered the motor from Summit then found out a week later the motor was not availible from the manufacture anymore, so i ordered another motor ( same thing except less intake and harmonic balancer ) only way it comes now. a week later i looked on my order status and it says cancelled. called up know one knows why, so we reorderd and last saturday got a card in the mai from summit and it said order cancelled. called up talked to a supervisor told him i was pissed and would not order anything from summit again and he said if i keep my order and would give me 10 % off and no charge for shipping and handling, ( that will more than enough pay for the intake and balancer ). have not received the motor yet but i hope this project starts going better. by the way i bought this car new and sold it i think in 1979, in 2007 the same guy i sold it too calls me up and ask if i was interested in buying it back, couldnt resist, car is still the same as i sold it to him only alot rougher condition, it had been sitting for over 10 years and the engine had not been started. long way to go but it ought to be fun, going to try to get it mechanically ready so i can drive it and fix it up and the same time.

I had a similar issue with Summit when I was trying to buy Edelbrock shocks: after their factory-direct order didn't come in 2 weeks, I called and the "customer service" rep told me they "can't keep an eye on every single order placed".  I told him that it's inexcusable that I shouldn't have to call to follow up on my own order after it's been discontinued.  They offered other (more expensive) suggestions but otherwise didn't provide any incentive to purchase with them.  I will be looking to Jegs as often as possible in the future.  I've been surprised with Jegs going out of their way to take care of me on a couple occasions.
mmmmm.... Mopar.... *drool*

With that small block - you can probably throw them at the car from across the room :) . You will surely be satisfied with the TTI.

edelbrock heads stick out about 3/4 " farther than the stock heads did, got my belt alignment screwed up.

Aero chamber mufflers sound good , Dynomax super turbo would be a second choice .
so you will have to mess with spacers etc
