2013 Challenger T/A!!
« on: April 21, 2012 - 01:37:07 PM »
Went to the bookstore last night and the currenct copy of Mopar Collector's Guide had an article about the new 2013 Challenger T/A Dodge will be selling soon.  Looks VERY cool and based on what they showed its an add-on the the regular Challenger R/T not the SRT so the price isn't going to be too bad (around $3.5k for the package).  Has the hood, stripes, spoiler like the original, and apparently all options are available.  Very, very cool to me.  Has me thinking how I could possibly get one for sure.

Can it compete w/the Boss 302?

I wish Chrysler would make the plunge and kick some arse.

R/T should have the 6.4 (470HP to kick the Camaro SS/Mustang GT's arse)

SRT8 should have a supercharged 6.4 (600-625 to compete w/the ZL1 and Shelby GT500).

T/A should have a extremely lightened 6.4 (aluminum block, carbon fiber hood, trunk lid) and try to weigh close to 3800lb.

*sigh* one can only wish.

:iagree:  They have so much potential with this car to compete but yet most of what they come out with is a cosmetic package.   :banghead:

It's a nice car and all but I dunno.  Why did they wait until the 2013 model year when they could have come out with it in lets say 2009.  I don't mention 2008 because even a manual tranny would have been asking for too much back then...  ::)

I agree......they are doing so much more in the Ford and Chevy camps as far as performance goes right now......I won't spend the money just because it's good looking.....the car needs to back that up!

Chrysler has always had a habit of doing similar things. When Ford was introducing the 5.0 and Chevy still had V8 Camaros, we had...the Omni 024, with a 2.2 graphics package.

Yeah, but think of that great fuel mileage!  :icon16:   :roflsmiley:

Actually, I remember working on some of those 2.2 engines.  Very easy to work on.  Sounded like they were going to fall apart, even at low RPMs, but easy to work on as far as tune ups...

With their locked PCM beginning in 2011 making the new cars untunable, Chrysler risks mass desertions by enthusiasts to more mod friendly platforms, with Ford appearing to be the favorite.  Aftermarket support for the modern hemi has always been thin and the locked PCM can't be helping on that count, either.

Nutter Preformance cracked that issue when they have a GM computer system that hooks up to the modern Hemi.  Supposedly very tuneable.  Called Hemitronix.  It's talked about in a Mopar mag recently.

I too wish they had some kick arse  upgrades, bit I am just glad the dealers have Challengers, Mustangs and Camaros to buy. But a CHallenger  that would kick the Boss and ZL1 would be awesone. Come on Chrysler remeber the good ol days....hemi, dana, pistol grip six pack
