You speed shifting?  Power shifting?

Not aware of any issues like that w/the 833.  Perhaps you can maybe ping Jamie Passon, the expert on 833s, if high RPM shifting is tough for some reason.

Not sure that comparing 833s to modern transmissions is a good thing. Todays transmissions shift much more differently and smoother.

Hi guys! I've finished the conversion just last week and was able to make around three hundred miles test driving since then. Everything seems alright so far. As mentioned above shifting is rough comparing to a modern transmission but I enjoy driving the car a lot. Thanks for your support to my project and answering my questions.
And here is another one: I'm using a Mc'Leod clutch disc and the pressure plate (10.5") and it needs a high pressure on the clutch pedal to activate. How is it on your cars? Is your clutch rather hard or soft?

I use the 10.95" disc Borg & beck Long style , more grip & less pedal pressure

An 833 with a 10.5" McLeod clutch isn't anything like any new car.   :grinno:

Effort on the clutch pedal will be MUCH higher than a new car, and shifting will be tougher. On that note though, which McLeod clutch do you have (model #), and do you still have the overcenter spring in place?

Check to make sure its adjusted properly and you're getting the proper travel. Outside of that, its a performance clutch and will have a heavier pedal feel than a standard clutch. And even a standard clutch for one of these cars will be heavier than anything made in the last 30 years, especially imports.

If you got $$$, you can get a hydraulic throw out bearing and a RAM dual-disc clutch.  That should help a little bit on your left leg pressure requirements.

Thanks for the participation on that topic to all of you! Actually I don't consider the effort on the clutch pedal as an issue. I just was surprised and wanted to ask if it is what is to be expected for those cars. Not many cars around here to try out. Maybe that could turn out as exhausting on the long trip, but fir that I will need to reduce the consumption first:)
By the way I'm using a hydraulic clutch setup already. What are the advantages when using a dual-disk clutch?
