1of1's Refresh
« on: April 25, 2012 - 10:30:01 PM »
Ok guys/gals , I need some help on the topic of radiators....my cuda calls for a 22 inch...but when I orderd hoses for it I was deliverd hose for a drivers side inlet hose and a completly diff. lower hose that was on it? Today there was a post of a 1970 Challenger resto guide car that looked like it had a 26 in. with the same inlet as mine....Dave (where I buy alot of parts) said the car came with a 22 orig. but had a left side inlet..... :feedback:

PS:  Anyone know what all the white hand written marks and x's are for on the fire wall and radiator are all about?

I will post my pics here for the refresh I am doing from now on so you can comment and please give me all the advice you can spare.....Thanks in advance!!!!

Dunno.  Looks like your hose looks right to me.

Can't see the lower from here.

All those marks are inspection marks from the factory inspector.

Thanks for the updates guy's...... You were right!  :banghead: I found out that the x marks and intials are to bring it back as if it was just deliverd to a dealer (before they wiped them off)  and were  to be marks made on the line by the each team that was responsible for install.........I see the radio shop says they don't do 8 tracks anylonger...does anyone have a connection that they may make an exception?

Sunday started out with an upper A arm replacement, the restorer used the old arm and if you look close at the 1st pic they bent it installing the bushings, so they spaced them (Bushings) and welded the bushings spaced apart to make up for the lost room, the next 2 pics are the old one out with the proper one installed...3 hours...

Installed the carpet, but started with laying in the back section, then the front, trimmed the front underdash section only, then let the carpet use gravity over 2 days to settle in ....Remember when trimming the front (under dash) cut only 2 inch section off untill it has the proper lap in the middle of the car ( about 2 inch over lap) that way you don't trim to much off the part that is under the dash, Reg carpet kit you should have a notch for the gas pedel of about 2 inchs to get proper fire wall coverage. .......Today I started in the middle of the car and worked my way out to each door with a steamer , then let everything cool, then cut out the console brakets, then installed the shifter boot . I will install the seats before I trim at the doors as the weight of the seats will pull on the carpet and you could have a big problem having cut it to short to fit under door sill trim. ( If you have the hidden seat belt returns, you should install those before the trimming at the doors.)

Now let it set for 48 hours (More garvity) and come back  and install seats, trim the sides and you have a perfect install................. 3 Hours

Now it's Miller time........

That carpet looks great!  Did you get it from ECS?  Or is that an AAC carpet that you just let sit out in the sun for hours?  You didn't use glue did you?

I see no wrinkles of any kind.

The kit came from year one....It's a pre-formed set...But a good steamer and about 2 hours with it makes it fit like a glove..... Only will use glue on the back part under rear seat....this will stop it from pulling out as it stretches......Recoverd seats are next to go in.....then door panels from Dave at Roseville...

Looks awesome.  Still not sure of the finish of the air-cleaner whether it should be organosol or ???

ALso, as aforementioned, neg. battery cable is usually painted from the block up maybe 3-8".

Thanks Guys, I will get the battery cable painted , I think I will get a new one for the positive side, as this is a 2 wire (seperate) and I think the stock one was 2 wire (together). any help on that one?:clueless: The air cleaner I think is suposed to be satin? but I don't know :clueless: I see alot of wrinkle finish, but I don't think that was stock either because the factory stickers won't stay on wrinkle  :clueless:

The picture shows the cable (pos) it has a seperate connection to the relay, that is not part of the lead casting, I think the stock ones had 2 wires coming from the casting??? ( the added wire is a battery tender connection).................. I also think the cable may be to long?

From your previous thread, I posted this:

I think should have two cables coming out of the positive battery clamp.
