Spinning wheels on avatar pictures
« on: February 07, 2005 - 09:53:31 PM »
I know this is petty but its driving me batty.  A couple of members use pictures of tires spinning , or their car doing a burnout, on the left side permanent picture for their posts. When I try to scroll down a topic, the computer   Totally.... Slows.... Way..... Down.... until I get their post off the screen. Then of course it speeds way up so I need to go back upwards to read the post I overshot.
This can't be the only computer this happens to , can it ?
I know what a burnout looks like, as do most folks.
Otherwise the speed of the loading and scrolling is fine   :banghead:

The reason that's happening is your system is short on RAM... it takes a bit of RAM for those images to fully load, and your computer focuses on that first. Just the way it processes...sorry man! You do have an option to turn avatar's off in your user settings... that will help!

I tell ya what . . . I wouldn't of known any better since I have had no problems with any of the avatars until yesterday when my video card took a sh!t and I hooked up a computer I had sitting around with 256 RAM.  I'm telling ya right now I have 2 programs running in the background of this PC since I have loaded no programs on it for work.  I am having problems with some of the avatars also with this PC but its the first time I have . . . . it does seem to be a pain in the ASS!   :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:

I have 512 RAM in my home PC . . . I ordered a new Video card today.  Be back to normal soon.  Although it doesn't seem to have a problem with my Nitro Fish??  Just the video avatars . . .   :banghead:

My newest pain is 74Chall's post about his Dad's Challenger. I can't get it to download without getting a timeout error. :stomp: That thead must be full of moving avatars. I believe I have 512 RAM. I was just blaming my dial-up. I always blame my dial-up. :grinyes:

Na, I have high speed cable, and that thread has problem for me too.   :banghead:

Something with it, most threads with tons of pics load easily on my "puter."

I have a pretty good system with DSL and I have to wait for at least 2 min for 74Chall's thread to load up. There's another one of his threads I'm having trouble loading also...can't remember what it is right now.

Same thing here Rev, although I can't remember what the other thread was either.  I have cable internet and it took me quite a long time.
