Incredible !

How did the Challenger do in OE judging compared to the Valiant?

After 17 points were deducted for having oil on the metal components, 4.5 points remained which were allocated to other areas.  Oddly enough, some of those "points" were deducted because my 1970 Challenger was missing its "Certi-Warranty Card".  Anyone care to give their input or thoughts on being penalized for that particular infraction?! :dunno:

Dave,

Didn't Chrysler discontinue putting Certi Cards in the cars after 1968?

Dave,

Fantastic detail as always.  Since both the Valiant and the Challenger are 70s, Im curious as to what alternator they would have.... square back or round back?  I was recently told that round backs were used up till the mid 70s which is when they changed over to the square backs.  The round backs supposedly were modified in 70 for the dual fields.

Any insight to this?

It was the Engine Identification Card.  Most of these weathered away or were removed sometime early in the life of the vehicle.  The 3 digit number (116) was the Engine Code that was listed on the Broadcast Sheet.  The alpha character designated the assembly plant (B = Hamtramck) and the number in the blue square was a quick reference for the Engine timing BTC.  The following numbers were vendor codes that designated the line (shift) responsible for the Engine Assembly.  The red marking let the Final Inspector know that each area had been checked and met compliance standards.

And what is that tag bolted on to?  Is it clipped to alternator bolt somehow or water pump bolt etc?

Dave,

I've had to kinda put that on the back burner for a little bit.  Remember how I told you about my back problem?  Well it turns out it is a lot worse than what I originally thought.  Between all of the doctor visits, physical therapy 3 times a week, and all the resting, I've had little free time to make some calls.  I will try and touch base with you today when I am on my lunch break.  If not, I will try and call you tonight when I get home from work.

Dave,

The more I see that blue interior, the more I'm liking it!  Could be due to the contrast of the black paint but that sure is pretty even in the before state!

Just two questions though..... what were those cardboard pieces on the pass side floor board?  Were they found in the car under the carpeting?  Also, the blue Chrysler customer care sheets.... did you or someone else put them in there for something or were they found under the carpet too?

Also cool how you can see the dip line on the interior of the firewall and just in front of where the pass. front door mounts up too.
