no VIN
« on: April 29, 2012 - 05:10:54 PM »
so im new to this thread and wanted to know what everyone thought of my purchase. this guy is selling a true 70 AAR CUDA yet it doesnt have a vin number, but he assures me its a true AAR becuase it has the right rear end and options that the 70'S had. was it a good buy for 3500? or no? Also he bought it 3 yrs ago for 13,000 and hes selling it for 3500 because of the missing VIN. would i be able to get a new one saying its a 70's AAR CUDA?

3500 sounds like a big scam!

Have you seen the car in person? Does he Have a tittle or bill of sale?

Is there 2 Fender tags or a buildsheet? There is also 3 more vins on the car the cowl, radiator support, and door plate.

Do you have pictures?
Some states are harder to get vins in then others.

I read your psot again you said you purchased it then hes selling it? So you havn't bought it yet?   :clueless:

The tags are fender tags on the left inner fender, AARs had 2 1 with the codes and vin the other says Trans Am.

The vin on the cowl is a stamping.  The vin missing is going to devalue it and when you get a new issued vin it wont just say BS23J0B I believe it will also have some letter/numbers before it or it may just be a totally new vin.

I'd ask for some quality pictures.
If there is a Buildsheet.

How about some more details?
Motor if there is one is it numbers matching?
Auto or 4sp?
Exterior color and interior?
Condition?
If you have pics please post some Love them aars.

I think it's a scam though even without a vin that's cheap for a aar.

And why no vin? OR title? Most states require a title. I would make him title it properly. If
he's not willing to do so,RUN.

well without a vin you cant get a title, otherwise youd have to get a new vin number than apply for the title, i can always do that if i buy it.

And no, if you can't prove that you are the rightful owner of said car, nobody
is going to give you a vin. Think about this. Why is this guy willing to take a 10k bath on such a rare car
if... , IF he truly even owns it?
