Where do I drill the hole for my HotWire 5.7 harness?
« on: April 30, 2012 - 04:19:58 PM »
Squires directions say to drill a 2.5" hole behind the head and fuel rail.  I have factory AC thats staying.  The heater box is blocking the correct spot.   Has anyone run into this and if so...   where did you cut the hole for the wiring harness?  Also, did you have enough space to place the computer under the dash?

Thanks,

how much extra length do you have in the harness to reach where you need to get to ?
there is room to mount the computer above the radio but you would need to make a mount

Its a stock HotWire harness I just picked up from QuarterMileCuda.   Its probably got 18" extra length to place it under the dash.

I'm really trying to find some photos that show where folks drilled the hole through the firewall.  Because of my A/C, I can't put it where the instructions say too.

Anybody have photos of where they cut their hole for the harness?

Thanks in advance!

This probably doesn't help but I had to drill 2 holes for the FAST XFI system.  I put the holes down low to keep them out of the way.  I don't remember where the factory AC box fit, so I'm not sure if this helps.  You can see one of the holes in this picture below the brake line (the other hole is to the side of this one)

I have the AEM mopar ecm in the glove box so I put mine down low like travis did just to the right of the AC box more to the center but low so it cant be seen.

there is a ton of room on the drivers side under the dash above the e brake

Thanks guys,
I guess it doesn't matter that much.  Hopefully there is enough excess that I can place the computer up out of the way.

If anyone has any specific experience with the Hotwire harness and could post some pics, I'd appreciate it.

thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

Chris. I dont know if you have drilled a hole in your firewall or not yet. Take cardboard and drill different size holes in them progressively to find the perfect size.

As far as putting the computer in I had it under the dash right where the firewall turns and levels out to the right side of the car. Pretty much above the Ebrake. If you want pictures I have my new computer system in the same spot as well as using the same hole drilled in the firewall.

i mounted my pcm where the factory hvac box mounted to the fresh air duct and i drill a 1 9/16" hole in the firewall and used an ac firewall grommet from a late 80s or early 90s nissan

i'm running a hot wire kit with drive-by-wire right now, i'll probably convert it over to a cable throttle when money is there
