was scrolling the net  and found this site   some of us know  the actual costs of complete  ground up restorations  add up way more then you could ever get out of the car  as i am in search of a 1970 - 73 cuda  i am looking at all routes and possibilities   now if i can just find  cuda  with  a wrecked frame   this might be the way to go
but its expensive

Cudas are a Unibody car so the body & frame are 1 part , so what you need is a body shell with a bad floor or order the panels & build a shell with new parts .

well thats sorta the plan if i don't  find me a decent priced  cuda for restoration  then maybe go glass body   and make it full  tube frame under her  some modificatiions  and were  set  right ????
but in mean time i will keep searching for a car  would be nice to find atleast  3/4 of a complete car     this way  i am not  worrying about so much parts like wireing harnesses  window parts etc

Well there is a nice candidate for a good clone here my father in law did most of the body work on it before he sold her!! The guy only wants 12k now but he kept or sold the 440 hp motor and 4-speed that mt father in law sold with it. Hell I have thought about buying her back just because he worked on it. Price a little steep for it without the motor / trans.

If your worried about restoration costs adding up to more than the car is worth, then using one of these frames starts you off in an even bigger hole than a restoration.

These frame style conversion will require major surgery to the uni-body structure to include removal of all the subframe structure and signficant modification of all the floor panels and rocker areas.

If you looking at a car for resale in the future, these frame conversions also create a limited market as the largest percentage of buyers prefer the stock set up.

It all depends on what you want to do with the car and the budget you have outlined for it. You can make the stock set up perform very well for a few thousand dollars But if you buy a basket case that needs a lot of work, then the formula for completion all changes. I could understand duplicating the factory layout with tubing as it is a lot less expensive than buying restamped original pieces, but these pre-fab frame set ups are pretty spendy right out of the gate.

To me, that looks like just a generic frame that is set up to be the same width and wheelbase as a Cuda/Challenger.  There are no Mopar specific parts and in fact it has popular hot rodder upgrades like a Ford 9" and Corvette spindles etc.  With that as a basis, you could plunk on any body you want from a 55 Chevy to a replica of Speed Racers Mach 5 provided it meets the wheelbase.  Kinda like a starting point for a kit car.
Yes I own a 1972 Dodge Challenger Convertible T/A S/E with a 440 Six Pak. Can it get any more wrong?
