    just finishing up my install. I'm looking for a part number for the two pin connector. I can't seem to find the right one. I've bought three different types now and none fit.

    Do you have access to a junk yard?  I don’t have part numbers but from my write up:

    I found them at pick-a-part on 1990’s (maybe newer?) jeeps and dodge trucks.  They are used to plug in fog lights and other electrical at the front of the truck.  Get as much length of the wire as possible and cut it.  I bought two for a $1 each!


    Also looked at my notes and found them on two sites… this includes the entire solenoid and I see they are still advertized there…

    search for:  #79M2. 518 / 618 two wire Pigtail connector for overdrive. This part has never been available before. Cost $25.00

    Maybe contact the guys over at PATC...  they have the connector in their picture of part #79M2.  I just realized the other link is only the solenoid.  If you strike out, maybe I can find some locally but it might be a couple weekends before I can go.

    thanks for the offer but I found one today at aamco. Tech had one with a switch and a cigarette lighter plug that he used to use for testing. He hasn't used it in years and just gave it to me. Has a 85572 cast in to it. Seems you can buy the blank housing and pins and put one together. still can't find a source for a new ones.

    There is an old guy here in St. Louis somewhere that will take your 518 and big block 727 case and weld them together for a couple of hundred bucks. I sold both of my 518s and went with manual trannies instead. If I was doing a 518 big-block combo, I would have done that. The Ultra bell is around $450 and that tranny for sale is $2000!

     :2thumbs:has anyone had any issues with kick down with this setup.  I've been driving mine for several months now and can't seem to get the kick down and the vacuum switch  cutting out the ODLU to play nicely. 

    I'm  using the variable vac switch from PATC website and have a good signal but can't get it to drop out of OD and kick down at the same time....

    Anyone else have this problem?

    Thoughts?

    I used the  Bouchion KD and it works well.  I don't think the vacuum and KD (to 2nd gear) from LU will work at same time.
    I guess it depends on where you have the LU set.  Mine is set to 50mph, so when I stomp on it, vacuum drops, LU and OD cut out and it goes to 3rd gear.
    I think kick down from 3rd to 2nd would happen around 30-40mph tops.

    Guys, I found an a518 supposedly a 46rh rebuilt for a great price.   However, after looking closely at the pictures, im starting to really wonder whether this is an a518 46rh or something else.   Take a close look at this picture:

    Look at the overdrive connector...it doesnt look like a 2pin or a 3 pin.   Anyone know what this is and whether it would be a good choice or not for a transmission  ????
