    The LRE truck is still in America but I am hoping to come over in late August to pick it up, and yes I will be documenting the conversion. For some strange reason until I came across your thread nobody else knew very much about this conversion.
      Did you modify anything inside as I believe that the solenoids can give trouble and so can the servo pistons. When you look at sites like PATC who make upmarket trans it seems that you need to upgrade everything which I am sure is not the case. Fitting more clutches should be a good thing though, over here in Australia this trans is not very common so nobody knows much at all.

    Yes thanks for that info, I am hoping that it will be an easy conversion unlike going into a sedan or E Body.

      If anybody has any experience working on these transmissions, 46RH I would appreciate any information.   :cheers:

    just in case i missed it what year  a500 and a518 trans do you want to use?im keep seeing from 90 to 99 in some threads,,  just wanna find the easier one to find and use,,  thx

    I think pre-95.  Anything 95+ is computer controlled.

    I would add that any trans you do pick up should be gone through pretty thoroughly. On mine the case was cracked internally, wouldn't have caught that just throwing it in the car...

    :iagree:   I tried to get away with putting it in the car and had to pull it again to rebuild it.

    :iagree:   Mine was a 1990 - non-lockup (2 pin).  This allowed me to use my stock torque converter... otherwise you'll need a new one for the lockup type (3 pin).

    '96 was the first year for computer controlled (RE) in a Dodge vehicle. Jeep started in '94 but could be either till '96. '96 was the introduction of OBD (On Board Diagnostic) in ALL vehicles and is the reason for the RH to RE switch.

    Has anyone here done this on a big block? Almost seems to me it would be better than the gear vendors route.  :dunno: 

    It be nice to change up from 3.23's   :bigsmile: ( and still be able to cruise the interstate)

    Bigs, there is a link in the very first post on this thread for Big blocks. Seems to be quite thorough. I

    After it's all said and done, to put one of these behind a big block is going to get you close to buying the 4L80 kit, or whatever GM trans it is, from Keisler. I don't know if I would do it again....

    So other then trimming the crossmember to fit was there any floor trimming? I didn't see it mentioned but I thought it was mandatory for this swap. I'm interested in a non lockup 518 trans into a 70

    You don't trim the crossmember; you trim the trans housing.  The crossmember, you need to either fab yourself, or get one from Rory as aforementioned. 

    From what I understand, no floor trimming; maybe some pounding with a 5lb hammer.
