I don't think you'll need the drop spindles with the Hotchkis torsion bars. Hotchkis was even refunding folks some money because the cars sat so low in the front using their torsion bars.
If you do keep the drop spindles, you'll want to watch out for tie rod interference. The drop spindle moves the tie rod back near the lip of the rim, instead of having it sit inside the rim like it usually would with a 17" rim. I have 17x9's with a 5" backspace on the front of my car with my MF drop spindles, it clears but its a little cozy. 17x8 would give you some more room, as Doomed pointed out with his 5.5" backspace.
