1970 challenger grill out of stainless
« on: May 08, 2012 - 01:02:10 PM »
thought i share my home made grill with everyone. My original grill was all beatup and i was looking for something more durable than alluminum.
I had the pieces cut out of 22 gauge high grade pollished stainless. It turned out better then expected. If any one is looking for the same I will send you the DXF drawings
all you have to do is give them to someone with a lazer cutter .

That looks really cool, Bert.

By the way, what color is that on your toe-nails?

Pretty cool, bert!

How do you get the peices to stay together?
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I was wondering that too. And also, hbow rust-resistant is it?

I was going to tig the back on the out side but it is a little to light. So I tried some fast glue ( crazy glue)to see if it sticks
and it did .  The whole grill fit together fairly snug anyway. So now I'm going to inject each joint with a little glue on the back.
You can't tell from the front. The stainless I used is a very high grade pollished guaranteed to never rust (304 )

Will super glue survive the elements. I think I'd give them a quick weld just to be safe.  :dunno:

It reads like it is suppose to but you might be right by just welding the outside to be safe. You can't see the outside after it in in the other piece.
