JUST PURCASED MY FIRST 1970 R/T CHALLENGER WHAT YA THINK
« on: May 08, 2012 - 09:05:26 PM »
Ok I posted a wanted add a few weeks ago, attempted to get a hold of that guy who selling the shaker car in Northern California for 45K, only one email. maybe he does not want to sell after all.  So today I purcased this 1970 numbers R/T 440 complete restoration, had an appraiser go by he stated "it's laser straight, underneath is nicer than the top of the car.  Maybe this is a dump question but it has a 440 six block from 1970, but the seller has the original block to go with the car,  Its going to cost alot more to ship the heavy block.  How important is that original block????

Very nice Challenger, lots of great options. Congratulations  :2thumbs:

The original block is very important, because it add more value to the car.

Can you tell by the number on the block if it's from this car???? It has a 1970 block but it's out of a six pack car, would they have different numbers???  And thanks for the replys, not to sure which will be nicer my charger or my challenger which is nicer????

passengers side of block right in the middle above the oil pan rail.  There should be your last 6 numbers from your vin.
That would make it the matching block.

Great looking car!

You yourself said it's numbers matching. That only means that. Yes it is very important to have that block
if it is indeed the numbers matching block. You bought the car because it is numbers matching.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Thanks guys

I guess the block is super important I will take it, the previous owner wants me to take it as well, he too said it's important, I'm not a super "numbers matching guy" , wasn't too concerned about it, but with all the comments, I will "buck up" and get it shipped.  Another question, is the ass end too low kinda looks like it wants to be jacked up a little more, any thoughts.  Cheers

 :iagree:
The original block is a must have , the vin #s are stamped on the oil pan rail just behind the right engine mount
The original block for my car was sitting 3' away from the car & I tried everything to buythe block with the car & could not get it , I even called him 18 months ago & blew his mind that I still had the car , he had no clue what happened to the all important block  :banghead:
