I've been making some progress on my car.
On Sunday I lost focus again!

10 hook-ups
9 landed
5 kept

Biggest hit 20 lbs. Saw Blue whales all over out there.
First time I've seen them in Monterey Bay.

Needed a break from the Rat Race so I took off for the week-end with a couple of friends to go fishing.
Was pretty slow fishing on the Sacramento River this week for Salmon. We were there between runs.
ended up with 2. An 18 lb and a 8 lb Jack Salmon. 20-40 lbers are caught commonly here.

Saw 2 Bald Eagles sitting up above me 100 yds away this morning while Salmon Fishing way up on the Sac River.
Also saw: 2 River Otters, A Beaver, Racoon, Hare, Buzzards, Osprey, Egrets, Ducks, Geese.
The Beaver would splash his tail at us saying "Hey, this is my spot."

Looks like a lot of fun and you might as well call it a zoo with everything you saw!    Those eagles are cool .. . Don't think I have ever seen one in the wild before . . . .

It's unbelievable how much wildlife is out there where I was.

The picture of the Eagles was done thru my I phone while holding a Monocular in front of it till I had the right focus. Was kinda tricky to do while on the river.

Good to see that bald eagles still exist in CA.

I hope the salmon runs are rebounding from when I was in those parts.

Salmon counts were fairly high this year. Unfortunatly, DFG stopped the fish ladder counter up at Red Bluff due to state funding issues. Yet they still have DFG Biologists working out like where we where.

2 young Hotties: DFG Biology students came up to us to see our fish we caught. They were driving this real fancy jet drive boat that can go in just 6 inches of water.

The Adipose fin was missing on the fish indicating it had a micro Chip. So they took the head and gave us the fish back with free ice.

Now I really went overboard!

I fly in on a private Cessna from Washington to Ketchican Alaska at the end of June.
This is going to be a trip of a lifetime.

You should "stop in" and see Barry! I believe he lives in Ketchican?

I knew that and would like to. However not sure if I can fit that in the schedule.
The Pilot (friend of mine) has his 2 sons joining us. So I'm on their itinerary for the journey.

Fished Santa Cruz yesterday. T shirt weather till the wind started around noon.
17.5 lb King Salmon.

This is AAA grade Salmon meat.
Some of the darkest I've seen. Fish was a fatty.

This trip to Alaska is coming up soon.

It'll be no Christmas in the park.

We will be roughing it.
Only 20 lbs per person allowed due to payload restrictions.

We have to stay light if we want to make the jump from airport to airport fuel stops.
No possibly going to Ketchikan. Too mountainous an area by private plane.

First landing into Canada is Peticton then towards Kamloops. from there it wide open where we go from there.

I'll be in touch.

PM sent. We will likely land in Kamloops. We see it as a good stop on the first day.
We need guidance: what, where and who, places to go and avoid; as we journey upwards toward Homer.
