Ditto - it better have the fender tag, build sheet, all body numbers matching, and be nicely detailed underneath & under the hood. A 340 4 speed shaker car is really cool but it has to be near perfect for that money these days.

People including me think it's already to high at 37k. So if you pay 40k there is a good chance you'll be loosing a few thousand when selling. The car looks good and all but if your only keeping it for a year or so then I would suggest finding a car at 25-30k or finding a 71 at 30-40k since they sell better.

investing in old muscle cars work  but it takes time for it to make a profit     like going to  the bank  and placing money in there  in 2 years  you made nothing   in 50   you have made a fortune lol   now   buying a  car like that   or should i say  stealing it     for real cheap  somehow  person needs  funds now  and will take a beating  on it   rather then  getting a beating from a loan shark hahahaha   now   you can make a a good profit in 2 years time
who knows  in 2 years   prices could  tumble    the world could be out of gas lol     everyone is unemployed    :blah: :blah: :blah: :smilielol:

Greg,

If we understand correctly, you are saying could you buy this car in the mid 30's and turn around and sell it in a couple of years for $40?  This appears to be a great car with a lot of WOW factor, but you are not likely to make any real money on it unless you can get the seller down to likely the low 30's and it doesn't need any repairs.  Afterall, these cars have moved into the hobby classification unless you get extremely lucky or like to work for free.  Just don't see the investment potential unless it is extremely clean and frankly, much better in person.

Is this a REAL SHaker car?  Got documentation to prove it?  That and the four-speed?  V6X car?

If so, I think if the car is super clean everywhere (zero rust, paint almost perfect, etc.) then I think it's worth $37k.  If it was a '71, it'd be worth $60k.

Why would a 71 be worth so much more?

Where did you get those numbers  :o

I've been going by this one

1970 Model Year
Total 48,867 *includes 2,724 AAR's

1971 Model Year
Total 16,492

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Plymouth_Barracuda/Production_totals#1974_Model_Year

Maybe they are both wrong

Third-Generation Plymouth Barracuda and First-Generation Dodge Challenger(1970-1974)

I don't know if my source is correct, but for the sake of answering the question, Plymouth made a lot more cars in 1970.

either way it is a nice car  and a person  will only pay what its worth    if you want something  you will pay what ever for it  sometimes money means nothing  thats if you got lots of money lol
