Cooling my 408 stroker

I have a .30 over 408 stroker with a mild cam, header, Holley 770 carb, 2.02/1.60 stock heads, crane coil and HEI distributor. If anything it's running a bit rich. Timing is at 33* and i'm running a 180* thermostat. For cooling i got a champion 26" 3 core radiator with shroud and 2-12" fans. During traffic at 80* outside the car runs at 210-215. It never sputters or runs bad, but the high temps worry me. Any ideas on how to get it run in the 180-190* range no matter what the conditions are?

Left out the water pump part of the formula. There are two type of SB pumps one for A/C, one for without. Using the wrong one can either result in either inadequate flow or cavitation. The incorrect pulley diameter can have the same result.

That radiator has enough capacity. Just need to make sure you have the coolant and air flowing.

I'm running a stock 340 cooling system (22 in rad) on my 410. No issues so far in moderately hot conditions. Keeping my fingers crossed waiting for the weather to get really hot.

How's the coolant temp when the car is moving at highway speed? Any cooler?

This may sound stupid , but make sure you don't have a air pocket in there.. My friends small block was running 210+ , water was running thru the radiator pretty fast. I thought maybe it wasn't cooling down fast enough, so I put a 195 stat in . That didn't help , tried no thermo-stat , that didn't work either. fresh engine with a 26" radiator and big electric fan..

Anyway some how we got the engine to burp , then added water and started running at 195 ..

Weird, but everything is great...We did change the stat to a 180 and now runs about 182 -185..perfect.....

That didn't help , tried no thermo-stat , that didn't work either.

Make sure you always use a thermostat.  The system uses the back pressure created by the thermostat to prevent cavitation and aid cooling.

You might be surprised at how well a 7 blade fan with clutch will work. Those electric fans
seem to block a lot of air flow.

The water pump is a high output non acc. Before I put the shroud on, on the highway it ran at 175-180. After it ran at 210. I burped the system and used water wetter. Should I go with a 165* thermostat?

No, stick with the 180 stat. Are you sure the fans are wired correctly.Most fans will turn
in one direction, and when you reverse the wires they turn in the other.  Are they wired to push through the radiator,
or pull through the radiator.

Yep, they seem to pull air through the radiator well. The 1st turns on at 165 and the 2nd at 180.
