Sounds like you've got several things going on all at once here. The old school band-aid fix for vapour lock or over heated fuel lines was to wrap them in aluminum foil. As for the idle, check when it's up to temp, that the throttle linkage is on the hot idle screw stop and if it is, then back it off a wee bit until it idles where you want it to. Make sure the choke and it's linkage is completely open and off the idle screw. Crude, but wrap and tie a clean rag over the dip stick tube at the opening and try it out- if there's no more oil on the hood and the rag is soiled, you know where it's coming from at least and then go over the pcv system. I'd change out the pcv valve and the hoses and the breathers and see if that helps, otherwise, you've got a blow-by problem and that's a whole new kettle of fish. Somewhere along the line, a leak down test would probably be a good idea, just for peace of mind; but I see you're going to sell the old gal, so maybe it's someone else's problem. Good luck.
