rear drum adjustment

hi,can someone tell me which way  the star /teeth adjuster should go to adjust the brake shoes for a better pedal feel,thanks

The picture is of the drivers side, from the outside viewpoint the teeth curve down and are engaged by the adjuster lever being pulled up turning the wheel clockwise to lengthen (viewpoint of the rear of the car). The passenger side is the mirror image so the wheel is turned counter-clockwise.
Using a brake spoon point the end up through the adjustment slot on either side and rotate down to lengthen the screw assembly to tighten the brakes, reverse to loosen. 

I discovered you have to "cock" the adjuster lever to get it to engage the star wheel properly. I grabbed the lever with a pair of pliers & pulled straight down then released.

thanks fo the reply. i adjuted rear brakes and pedal is better. it still needs  to  be re bled, bake  pedal goes to far to floor
