    Help with wiring engine run stand!!!!! I think I made it easy to help me?

    Built a modular engine run stand to break in motors and was hoping to get some thoughts on wiring it.  I want to run the alternator and a fuss buss.  Could someone mark up the photo below to help me wire this thing?   :1zhelp:

    I think it looks great !! Nice stand. Are you gonna hook up the fan or electric fans like AARON did  ?

    Yep, the electric fan is in place but you can't see it in the photo. 

    I know with the pertronix I don't need a resistor, but do I need to use an Ammeter with this set up?

    I have not seen one on any of the other test stand wiring diagrams in a google search. :dunno:

    I have a HEI one wire distributor for a 440 I would donate to the cause might simplify the diagram got it a the portland swap meet a few years back!

    Yes interesting? with the petronix you do not need the resistor so it changes the diagrams i have seen recently.

    Looks really nice. If you want to put an Ammeter inline you don't need a resister but you need a shunt.

    I might have something you want, I basically made a guage box for testing which has a 1-15 Volt guage and a Amp guage that goes up to 100A. Could take a pic of it if you want, I could let go of it real cheap as I don't use it anymore.

    All you have to do is wire it in where you want, my guess is somewhere around the voltage reg.

    Looks like it would work , just have to make sure you have 12v feed at the coil for the pertronics

    Thanks for the help guys. I wired it just like the last diagram and it worked perfectly. 2 gallons of gas lasted about as long as the battery and I got about 25 minutes of 2,000 rpm break in.

    I hope it is OK , I removed a couple of the diagrams that were wrong .
    It looks like the ign switch eliminates the need for the relay , I think you could just run a wire from the large start terminal on the ign switch directly to the solinoid wire on the starter
     OK I was wondering about the dist wiring until I went back to the first diagram with the Pertronics dist shown .
    Make Sure the Voltage Reg is grounded as well or the charging system will not work .
     The diagram is so large it is hard to see more than 1/4 of it at a time LOL

    He is using a pertronix distrib. He fired it and ran it for 25min last night 2000rpm break in  :2thumbs:
